Let me throw out a hypothetical for a coaching possibility...

This guy is a current NFL defensive coordinator.
He's been an NFL head coach. It didn't go well. He was with a poor organization and he probably wasn't ready for the job. That was almost a decade ago.
But he's now in his mid-40's and his defenses have been very good for several years on a perennial playoff team. He has a Super Bowl ring.
He's from Texas, and he played and coached for a current SEC school. He's got a good deal of familiarity with Louisiana.
Would this be somebody you'd be interested in in absence of knowing more?

I don't think we should get an NFL coach simply because you never know how they'll handle recruiting and managing 18-22 year Olds

How about this, before someone says “Yes or No” why don’t you list the current NFL head coaches that have come into the college ranks and are successful, meaning winning their conference and national titles. Can’t count Saban or Kelly cause those were college coaches that were duds in the NFL which is why they are back in college.
When you come up with that extremely small list, then that might help you understand that is more of a crap shoot then finding a successful college coach.
