quote:

"He's the most intriguing coaching prospect I've seen in a long time," said one team executive. "I think he has a great deal of talent and can deal with the modern athlete."

And that is what I've heard repeatedly about Miles from team executives. Their belief is that Miles is, as one told me, the next Jimmy Johnson in terms of knowing how to coach the 21st-century player. Take that comparison as you like, but to me there's no bigger compliment since Johnson deftly handled a Cowboys locker room full of gigantic egos.

League executives also seem to be impressed with Miles' ability to build and maintain a top-level program. While the challenges and differences between professional and college are obvious -- the salary cap being the biggest -- Miles has made LSU into a staying power in the toughest conference in the country.

quote:

An LSU spokesman initially said Miles would speak with me. He even suggested a day. Then, communication ceased. My guess: The university wasn't going to help promote the fact that Miles had drawn extensive NFL interest.

Can't blame them. But I think they're fighting the inevitable. I think it's only a matter of time before Miles is gone to the pros

He appreciates the opportunity to achieve at the highest level, but has a want to continue to the tradition that has arrived at LSU.

The rant told me that no one out side of LSU fans think that miles is a good coach.

Bo Schembechler told Les regarding coaching at Michigan. Make you mark on your own program and do not be concerned with the Michigan legacy. I think LM is doing just that. If Les wants to move up to the challenge of the Pros I wish him well and all the best. I am sure he will be successful. Selfishly I love him in Baton Rouge.

Dear God, NO! Les needs to nip this in the bud quick. All he needs to do is look at $$$$$'s and Spurrier's stints in the NFL to realize that LSU is where he needs to be.

I don't think a good NFL franchise will ever take the risk because Miles's goofiness will always make him a hard sell to a fanbase.

But I think the sentiment is right, Miles knows how to motivate the modern young player. It is why LSU as a team is always up for games. (Maybe not always ready in X's and O's, but always motivated.) You give Miles a couple of good NFL coordinators, and he could be successful at that level. Don't think he will ever get the chance though, and he might not ever want it anyway.

LOL - as I mentally translated your "$$$$$'s" name. Well made point. I would be very sad if Coach Miles decided to take the pro plunge and leave LSU.

The only problem I have with it is that Mike Freeman is a lying douche bag that falsified his resume once upon a time, so how can what he says be trusted?

He is also the same guy that said Alabama's national title should have an asterisk because Colt McCoy got knocked out of the game.

Well this sucks. I was so hoping everyone would stay simple minded and think Les was goofy, lucky, stupid, unconventional, etc. Oh well, good for Les he's finally getting some legit credit, but I hope he doesn't want the NFL.
