you need to go back and watch the first game. Lee didn't have chance. Bama scared the crap out of him. He was paralyzed with fear. If you're statement is serious, you are clueless. There was no shot. bama's backup oline was far superior to our starters.

Yet just two short years later Mett set records and LSU had their first season with TWO 1,000 yard WRs.

So with those 2 WRs, an NFL running back, and an NFL QB why will JB rewrite the record book.

I'll help you out, Miles didn't use the talent he had properly.

Make no mistake about it, NOT 1 college team could have matched up with OBJ and Landry. Miles still wanted to run on 1st and 2nd down, he still ran into stacked boxes, he still threw into nickle and dime defense at the same time running 2 or 3 man routes vs 5 D backs.

From an Xs and Os point of view, Miles was the worst.

Lee would have made absolutely no difference in that game. Bama was completely dominating us. I do wish Miles would have played him anyway if for no reason than to shut down this narrative.

If you want to blame Miles for something, blame him for not having the team prepared and ready. It was as if he didn't do anything at all to plan for that game.

We've had talent the last 2.5 years too. Why do we have to keep criticizing Miles? Just be happy with what we are witnessing now.

Perhaps the mentality was shaped by that of the coach.

Lee carried the water the entire season. Stubbed his toe vs. Bama Game #1. Les Miles screwed him, the team, and the fans royaly. There is no debate. We fired him 5 years too late. He was indeed riding Saban's coattails the entire time.

so six years after taking over and winning the SEC and going undefeated against an extremely difficult schedule and making a national championship game is riding the previous coaches coat tails? what is ed doing then?

We have always had talent and it is shining brighter during the O regime.

NO
LSU has not "always" had talent.

DiNardo started to hold on to talent that had been going elsewhere.
Saban built on that and brought in more.
Miles built on that and continue to bring it in.
Orgeron has continued the process.

If some of you had the brains of a fruit fly you would realize that talent doesn't just magically appear.

But that would take independent thinking, a lost art around here.

Imagine being such a mouthbreather like many in this thread that they trash a coach that won only the third national title in school history and has the most successful resume of any LSU coach in the history of the program.

It is painful how football ignorant this fanbase is.

NFL scouts during the Miles Era disagree with you.

coach Les Miles still considered canceling Holliday's scholarship offer until holdover offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher convinced Miles that Holliday could play at a college level.[28]

I also remember reading the Houston coach saying they wanted to use Holliday in the offense but coming out of LSU he knew nothing. I tried to search for a link but could not find it.

I loved Miles as a representative of our program, but this is what it began to feel like was going on. I think this hits the nail on the head.

And you can’t tell me that at some point in the second half, when you haven’t crossed the 50 yard line, that Lee doesn’t deserve a chance.

But that risked proving the fans right.

So the "fans" should decide personnel and play calling?

I think this is why there’s such a huge portion of the fanbase who dislikes Miles

I KNOW it is why some...myself included...don't look back fondly on the man's tenure.

The level of waste on offense is staggering and despite the hardware he did earn, the amount of potential hardware left on the table is simply too much to overlook/forget.

We started Jarrett Lee against Bama during the game of the century. He came on and looked like a deer in headlights and was telegraphing passes and had a pass picked off. We brought JJ on after that and lead the team to a win and started from that point on. Yea JJ sucked against Bama in the national championship, but so did Lee in the first quarter during the regular season. Without JJ we don't even make the National Championship game. LSU wouldn't have backdoored into the game like Bama. They would've played Oklahoma state most likely. It's just the truth. Lee looked really bad early in the game vs Bama. He went back to his pick 6 form.
