Ed was interim in '16 after being the Recruiting CO previously, leading up to his first signing class in '17.
He had ample time to evaluate that class, so was definitely responsible for any excess fullbacks, and had plenty time to offer more WRs on the roster for 2017.

C'mon it's not like he was hired from another program a month prior to NSD, with only 13 commits like Saban left Miles.

You're suggesting Orgeron is making excuses regarding the challenges of implementing the spread at LSU... After successfully implementing the spread at LSU?

Ed was blabbering about WCO ala USC at that time.
If he wanted spread so bad he'd have never hire Steve back as OC in 2018.
Get that disingenuous shite outa here.

I mean that’s a fair point, but you don’t think Les was outlining the personnel he wanted & that O wasn’t just getting the best guys he could?

Recruiting CO doesn’t necessarily mean he’s managing how the roster is strategically built.

I’m not arguing with you just to argue... O has been pretty consistent with his actions even though they didn’t all pan out — He wanted Kiffin to be his first guy at OC, we all know that. Canada experiment was next & I think E was always meant to be temporary placeholder (esp since he never really wanted to do it).

If 8 fullbacks on the roster was on account of O — it’s hard to believe we’d be looking at what we are now. Throw personal offensive philosophy/preference aside — he knew if he was going to hold the job that he would need to change the perception of the offense.

WR alone is massively improved from where Miles left off. Nothing disingenuous about it, that’s just my opinion.

I never said otherwise.
had saban stayed he wouldve been the most accomplished lsu coach ever.

Do you understand the term "coattails"? One can reasonable assume that Saban would have matched Miles early success at LSU had he stayed.

who is denying this?
but he didnt stay

I don't think he was a transformative figure like Saban who rescued LSU's football fortunes.

never said he was. I use accomplishments because they arent subjective while labeling a coach as good or bad is subjective.

You would have preferred Miles to Saban at LSU. I get it.

holy shite. at no point have I ever even insinuated that.

again... saban left. miles is the most accomplished coach in lsu history.

Hold it, I said 8 FB remaining on roster was on O and I'm sure majority were non-scholly. Honestly, I don't recall any single vision on scheme from Orgeron and he's used many marketing terms for the fan base, like USC WCO, Multiple, RPO and also Spread.
Ed's choice in OCs surely haven't screamed spread and I think he took a shot in the dark and hit something with PGCO Brady, but seemingly at a cost to defense and ground game.
Judging if this cfb scheme will be an improvement on Miles will be determined in January at the soonest, and even that might be premature and unfair in it's infancy.
Anyway, geaux Tigers.
