re: Leonard Fournette is a Heisman in my book!

What makes Founette so much 'better'??
He led the country in rushing yards per game and led the sec in ypc while having the 109th ranked passing offense. The only reason Henry has more yards is because of carries.

Henry is the worst Heisman winner, relative to the other options, in a long time.
Not even close.
Mark Ingram won a Heisman during a season where he rushed for less than 35 yards twice and less than 100 yards 5 times. His 09 Heisman is a joke.

I guess the recipe is to just give a guy 40 attempts per game in November after an uninspired start.
Yeah 147 yards on 13 carries and 3 touchdowns in the season opener is so uninspiring.

Yep, Ingrams award did more to delegitimize the trophy than anything.

Not really, but 52 yards against UL Monroe on 13 carries is. UL Monroe.

Seemed to work out pretty well for Payton

Nobody gave a shite about Henry until the LSU game, the first of 4 games that led to about 38 carries per game. Henry is quantity not quality, with respect to the Heisman race. He's definitely a quality back, but not the best.

Who was the competition for Ingram besides Gehrhart? I remember it being a down year for super stars more than anything. Henry was probably the 6th most talented and exciting player on the Heisman ballot.

Hama isn't welcome here.

The Heisman is nothing but a media driven award and the best player on one of the top team awards. If you look at the winners over the past 20 years it becomes obvious that the best player rarely wins. Fournette is in good company along with Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, Curtis Martin, LaDainian Tomlinson, Marshall Faulk, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Adrian Peterson, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss and on and on....
Here are some recent winners: Robert Griffin, Mark Ingram, Tim Tebow, Troy Smith, Ron Dayne, Charlie Ward, etc etc.
My point is that the BEST players don't win anymore. It is just a hyped, stat driven award.

The Heisman is a joke in my book!

The Doak Walker, the Maxwell Trophy award AND Walter Camp award says hi
Posted on 12/12/15 at 9:23 pm to joeleblanc
How is that relevant? That was my opinion before those awards were given out. Getting them didn't make him a different player.
He got a ton of yards. He's not undeserving of recognition. He's just... I don't know... There.

McCaffrey should have won it. He was the most versatile and wasn't getting 40+ carries a game to pad his stats. He was Standford. Bama could have won just as much without Henry.
Bash away at me. I just think the Heisman is about what a player does for a team, not himself. Standford lived and died by McCaffrey.

Les would get this program together, we would have had our first winner in over 50 years.
Only if he would sign good players rt? Damn shame.

The heisman is flawed since Ingram won it. Tyrann should've won it when he was here. He did way more on defense than anybody in the history of college football. Leonard is good but he couldn't pull wins out of his arse like mathuei did week after week.

TG led the country in almost every major rushing stat.

I don't think Payton Manning won the Heisman.
