I just think it's idiotic at best to set your expectations for a playeer at "greatest EVER"

How many people have said this in earnest? I want quotes.

or try and stack him up with Faulk, Alexander,

I'm not going to bullshite you. Want is the problem in some people believing that? What is the problem of someone believing that the #1 recruit in America, will be one of the greatest at his position, in school history? Miles loves running a lot, and has the OL to do it. Fournette is faster than any RB we've had in a long time. Is as big and powerful as any RB we've had in a long time. Has as good of hands as any RB we've had in a long time? I honestly don't see the big deal with having high expectations. I've never been pissed if a guy didn't reach what I expected. Don't resent them either.

I wasn't one of the Mettsiah fanboys, neither was I creaming over Russell Shepard before he even stepped onto the field. Thing was, I didn't bitch incessantly about them going crazy over those guys.

If it happens, it happens. I'm more annoyed with the people that have a dick in their butt about it.

That list is subjective, and see, dick up your butt about it.

This. I'm old enough to have watched Alexander and Hill is better.

So am I and I think they were very similar in many ways. Charles maybe had a tiny bit more straight-ahead speed, and Hill probably had a little better vision and shiftiness.

Personally, Dalton & Cecil were better IMO.

All I'm doing is praying the LF has an angel up above guarding him from injury so we can see what he can become...

Why so much hyperbole?
Exactly.

Look, I understand why people are excited, and I realize much of the talk it is tongue-in-cheek, but people are going overboard. It's likely not to be reality and it's not fair to Fournette. He can handle it I'm guessing, but he almost has no chance to meet the astronomical expectations.

Yep. I agree on Cecil. Too bad he couldn't get his head straight because he was amazing on the field. Too bad we didn't get to see more of him. Player's got to use common sense to take advantage of their opportunities. LF looks like he will. I think he will be good this year and a star next year. Can't wait!

Look up his expectations for himself.

I have read his quote about his self-expectations. Self motivation and personal goals are great and will help him succeed, but they are different from the expectations on this board. I'm only discussing the latter.

I don't think tempering expectations = dick up butt, but whatever. I promise I'm as excited about LF as the next guy.

And I'm the furthest thing from a "nega Tiger" or whatever we call miserable people on this site now.

holding him to any absurd expectations just makes you an idiot. Just enjoy the ride.

Hill might have been the best back we've seen at LSU. But these guys prob will never get the amount of carries Alexander had.

What? Please... Hill was an above average back who showed flashes but then other times would go down easier than a bourbon street whore.

Charles A was solid running back in an age where running the ball was the primary weapon for most college teams. He was a very good back and got some Heisman votes for it and then stuck around the NFL for a few years.

Personally I thought Hilliard was one of the best at LSU and would take him before Collins or Faulk or Jeremy Hill. Then Faulk...then Collins.

I will reserve comment on Fournette until he actually starts playing and we can see if his High School success translates to college football. I hope it does but would not be surprised if it does not for a number of reasons. It cracks me up that some of you people already compare him to A Peterson and predict he will run wild every game. He very well might be the second coming of AP and mentionable in the same breath as Bo and Hershel... He very well might not be either.

I would much rather us be balanced then LF7 gaining all the yards. I think we would be a much better team with 2 - 1000+ yard rushers and the other 2 gain 500+. I have extremely high expectations for all 4 backs and could care less about a Heisman trophy winner.

Part of our appeal to recruits is that we don't wear out our running backs the way Bama does. Even though their backs come to college higher rated and typically have much more rushing yards, our backs are having better pro careers.
