Lee's mental state

I know a decent amount about football, but when it comes to mechanical/technical aspects of being a QB, I am not the best analyst. It looks as if Lee has a strong arm, all the throws necessary, and good touch as well. Assuming all of this is true, if Krag/Miles/etc...can help him mentally, can he consistently be the QB that we have seen play with flashes of a greatness?

I think he will do fine. After all the abuse this young man has endured and still remained at LSU, shows mental toughness because many players would have folded their tent and left. This a young man that has shown what some are lacking and that is tremendous character.I think Kragthorpe and Miles will certainly help him.It is time for the true LSU fans to close rank and support the team.I hope that LSU fans will keep not only Jordan and Josh in their prayers but the parents of both young men.

Agreed. It's a tough time for more than just the players.

Hopefully he has learned to step into his passes and not throw it off of his back foot.
I also hope the equipment staff will find him a pair of shoulder pads so he doesn't have that awkward twitch like he's trying to constantly pull his shoulder pads down.
All in all, I think he is going to do just fine and I think the receivers are going to bust their arse trying to help him out.

No because when he takes those big hits and teams constantly blitz him mistakes are coming. Sorry I know you guys have been waiting for lee to get his chance but he is not mobile enough people. He has his moments but he has shown when under pressure he can make a ton of mistakes and teams like Alabama are just waiting!

Hopefully having a better oline in front of him will give him a hair more time to allow the receivers to open before he throws it. Either way, he's throwing it. I just hope a little time allows him to throw it to the good guys.

Heisman potential. But that assumes Krags straightens his head and improved his footwork. Potential is one thing, achievement is quite different. Still, he has a gunslinger arm, and is a 5th year Sr. His upside is unlimited assuming Krags is what he is made out to be.

Ihope the oline is healthy enough and I hope the running backs are able to pick up the blitz because during fall camp they were not looking so hot in picking it up but I still expect lsu to win somehow and someway.

There's a lot of factors in play here.
Lee has a really good drop, and he scans the field ok but it could still use some improvement, he has a quick release and a cannon for an arm, which sometimes gets him in trouble, because he tries to force it.
His 2 biggest problems are his elusiveness in the pocket and the whole back foot thing, which I am sure that Krags is fixing.
He's a good talent that's rough around the edges. Unfortunately for him, in this stage of his career, he should be well polished, but he's still rough. Crowton is mostly to blame for that...and miles needs to take some of the blame too. I still don't understand how you take your starting QB and just cast him aside like in 2009.

let's face it, he has not gotten an opportunity to develop since his freshman year. getting thrown in here and there, even starting a single game or two, that's not enough.
we don't know. i'll tell you what, watching that highlight video somebody put together - i had forgotten what it looked like for an LSU qb to throw some real passes.
Sorry to the JJ apologists, but he never looked good throwing the ball. doesn't mean he couldn't have had a big senior year, but I never saw it.

JJ was named the starter. Mettenberger announced he was coming to LSU. Everyone expected Lee to transfer. He didn't (Aren't we glad he didn't now) I think it is because of the intelligence of Lee. I think he was smart, seeing the writing on the wall. I think he looked at JJ and said, "this idiot is going to implode, I'm gonna start."
Whoala.
Whoala.

I hate to point out the fact that it was Jarret Lee stepping up in the pocket against ALABAMA and threw a pass to Randle that helped LSU win the game. All QB's are under pressure because of the position they play.I think this team will be a team of Destiny with Lee leading them to New Orleans.Sometimes things happen for a reason.Good things happen to those who stand and wait.

I think Lee will be fine. In reality, there are 2 main things to work on.
1) as already mentioned , correct the tendency to throw off the back foot
2) learn to take the sack or throw it out of bounds when the pressure is too great rather than trying to force the ball.
These 2 should not be too difficult to fix and I hope Krags has worked hard on correcting them.
I think with the talent we have on the LSU offense, Lee~s strengths will allow us to exploit it better and the opposing defense will now definitely have to respect the pass, thus further opening our running game.
In any event, many (including myself) have wanted to see what the offense could do with Lee being named as starter and prepared as such. We will now get to see that happen. Not the way I would have liked, but unfortunately that is reality. Not many teams had the luxury of having a capable 5th year senior QB for a backup like we have.
BTW - no hate at all here for JJ. I wish him the best and hope that he gets a fair trial. While I have been critical of his performance in the past, I have never wished him anything but the best. I beleive that a man is responsible for his actions, but it really torques me up that the media and some of our fans convicted him before all the facts were known. There will still be more coming out that we dont know at this time.
Anyway , I am looking forward to this season with great excitement and cant wait to see what the talking heads will say when we beat Oregon with our backup QB.

I really hope for his sake he has a great season and leaves LSU on a high note!

I think he's going to step up and try to show everyone it should have been starting him last year.
Unlike With RP, we're still in great shape at QB.

fix #2 and you'll fix #1...he doesn't have a mechanical issue that leads to throwing off his back foot.
