There have been plenty of head to head games between Louisiana schools and Texas schools to show that this is not clear cut. There is some terrible football in both states. Simply saying "I play Texas football" isn't enough unless you are talking about stadiums and equipment. Per capita college and pro player/prospects are relevant here in that there are obviously some very talented teams in both states. However, simply playing in Texas is not a guaranteer that you will have great competition in your own district.
That being said . .all the high school stats tell you is that each of the have the potential to be successful. . .success is still where preparation meets opportunity. I am not convinced that JJ has had enough time for preparation.
Very well stated.
I live in the Dallas area where there are mostly 4A and 5A schools. Enrollments are from 1400 to over 4000 students. Each game I go to has 2 or 3 kids that will go on to play (formerly) D-1 college football. The size and speed of these teams are tremendous.

That's interesting that JJ's senior year was similar to Lee's senior year. For some reason, I remember Lee had much better stats (I'm pretty sure that Lee's junior stats were even better than his senior stats, while JJ's junior stats weren't as good as his senior stats).
And for those that think 4A Texas football > 5A Louisiana football, I know Texas high school football is legendary, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have better facilities, bigger stadiums, etc.
But when it comes to talent, Louisiana football is more competitive. Rivals did this report on what states turn out the best talent per capita, and Louisiana and Mississippi were #1, which is not surprising, considering that Louisiana and Mississippi are also #1 when it comes to the largest black populations. Also not surprising was that the states with large black populations (most of the south), turn out the best talent per capita (I have the link to this Rivals report somewhere, it was this long, detail, multiple page study).
Anyway, Texas is 1/10 African American, while Louisiana is 1/3 African American.
Yes, Texas is the 2nd largest state in the US, and huge states like California, Texas, and Florida will always be well-represented in the NFL, and in high school All-American games such as Army, Under-Armor, etc. With Louisiana, you're not going to see as much total talent as you do from the huge states, which isn't surprising being that Louisiana is a small state with less people that the metro area of Houston alone.
But when it comes to per capita talent, Louisiana beats Texas.
Anyway, it's nice to see JJ and Lee have similar senior year high school stats. I know they were both similarly ranked by Rivals and Scout coming out of high school (I checked this the other day). It's nice have too very good QB recruits at LSU, with more on the way, so we don't get ourselves in another situation like we did with RP, who was the only QB we signed in the three-year period after we got JR and Flynn.

The key word here being per capita. You'll get no argument from me on this statement.

I understand that this is all high school stats and that I am a little biased towards JJ as you can see from my name.. but the dude is a winner, he's never lost a game that he has started.. I think that's saying something

Lee only had 1 pick all year, until his final game and he threw 6 against texas city in the 4th round. Granted texas city had 3 of its DB's go to D1's.

Texas is so big, it hard ot say that the 4a competition Lee played against was better than the 5A competition Jefferson played against

wait he threw 6 pics in one game? if so that kinda should show that he does not learn from his mistakes

That is correct he did, and they still almost won the game.

They ran a different system when he was a junior...he wasn't even the qb all the time and i believe he was injured...

Texas 4A HS Football > La. 5A HS Football
As a teacher at both a 5A LA school and a 4A Texas school, your assumption is dead wrong. There are more outstanding teams in the state of Texas, that cannot be denied. But, the top of each state is comparable. With a gigantic geographic span and literally TONS of schools out there, it's easy to find many a great team in Texas. But don't assume that, because there are more good teams in TX than LA, TX football is automatically better.

I know 2 2a teams from here in LA that could play with most 4a teams in Texas pretty much year in and year out. shite they could probably play with the 5a and 6a teams in Texas on a reg. basis too. And they are both from the same district.

So are those 2800 yards just passing? What about his rushing yardage, or is that included?

This is not true per MAX Preps. He trew a pick almost every game.
No rushing is not included

There are more 5A schools in the Houston area than in the entire state of Louisiana. All I know is that West Monroe has held it's own against Texas 5A teams through the years...Midland Lee, Longview, and Tyler.

Well they must not include his playoff stats then, because I know for a fact he threw 6 in that game against Texas City.
