I will agree he didnt get back in transition multiple times last night. But calling someone lazy on D when they are averaging 15+ rebounds a night is careless. Rebounding is about effort

TAMU defended Bennie well and all the good teams will do the same which was to play a disciplined zone defense against him. That completely takes away the primary thing he's good at offensively, penetrating the lane. Almost the entire game Simmons didn't know what to do offensively because his normal driving lanes just weren't there. Until he shows the ability to be an outside threat, these well coached teams will play zone and force him to make plays on the perimeter. The blueprint is now apparent on how to shut down Simmons. Expect OU to do the same thing to Simmons as well.

I cant show you if you dont value court vision and ball handling skills at 6'10". I cant show you if you dont value 14 double doubles to date. I cant show you if you cant correlate that he leads the nation in efficiency per minutes.

If you want to see what your simple mind allows you to appreciate, come to the PMAC next Saturday when we play Oklahoma and watch Buddy Heidl. He scores in droves. Thats what I bet you think of when you see a great basketball player, which of course he is.

Look at Magic Johnson's jumpshot at Michigan State. Or do you even know who that is?

Ben Simmons is a perfect example of why we need a system of:
A) Straight to NBA out of High School
B) 2 year NCAA commitment.

This is a garbage year in college for him. Come back and proclaim your dominance when you are ready in year 2. This whole "look how good he can be and will be one day" crap is dumb.

Against lesser opponents he has been great, against equal talent not so much,I'm no basketball guru, too bad he doesn't have a jump shot.

I totally agree with this proposal.

The hype machine was huge, so everything Simmons does will be examined in detail. Such is the life of the projected no. 1 pick.

But you can't complain about that when people point out deficiencies in his game. That comes with the territory of being the no. 1 recruit.

Fair enough, I just don't see the point when the people with the loudest criticisms are LSU fans. NBA scouts, GMs, and college basketball experts, sure, but the incessant complaints from LSU fans are ridiculous.

He is far and away the best player on this team yet his effort and heart are questioned on a daily basis.

He isn't always lazy, but the last 2 games, he looks like our football team after losing to Bama. Going through the motions with little to no effort then getting surprised that he couldn't get by on just talent. He's got a lot to learn. Right now the best player for LSU is Victor.

show me where this has helped LSU win games consistently.

You all said Simmons will take over games all year, and that is simply not the case.

He may become that, but I don't think he's the best player in the SEC at this point (what he's being labeled as). Enjoy watching him, but he can't be expected to do it all.

From the looks of the team last night, they mailed it in after they got down by 10 or 12. Fogging up 3's and not even thinking about offensive rebounds. Bad passes and missed opportunities allowed a good team to capitalize. LSU has several good players that can ball at times, but their coach has to keep them up and performing to their potential. I put a lot of the sloppy play on him.

Refs made me want to puke, calling a foul anytime an LSU player even made an attempt to defend a shot. I don't like to bitch about officiating, but after rewinding several of our "fouls" and watching in slow motion, it looked pretty bad to me.

Nope not an idiot, and follow LSU basketball just as well as any of you. Love the way his game sets up, but i'll tell you this that if he doesn't develop some kind of midrange game, then his talent won't translate to the NBA that well. He will not be able to drive erratically into the lane in the NBA and get a shot off. He needs to at least be taking that shot in these games, rather than driving and attempting to draw fouls, and sometimes making a contested layup. Also if you can't tell that he relies completely on his athleticism for rebounding then you don't know. No box out, and no effort on defense. Just has quick hands that get him a steal every now and then.

You're going to tell me with a straight face that if you had to chose one for the Alabama game you'd chose Victor?

Can you imagine this team without Simmons? Yeesh.
