James was the only dominant LB we have had in quite some time. Trev could have been but he left early because he couldn't stand Saban, then didn't even get drafted. Cameran Vaughn was good too but not great. Nobody in the past 4 years has stood out to me at all.

James was probably our best shot at an elite LB

How many tackles would it have taken for you to now consider him elite?

Bradie was the best LSU linebacker since Brooks, and, I argue, one of the three best ever (along with Big Al Richardson and Michael Brooks).

For some damn reason, LSU has never had any luck getting a 5* linebacker to even take a second look at us. Its either we don't recruit them hard, or they just don't feel that LSU is the best place to showcase their talents. Whatever it is, it sucks!

The last time we recruited a top flight HS LB that actually turned into a top flight college LB was James, 11 years ago

LB recruitment was bad under saban and has been bad under les...although I do like some of our young LBs

Last dominant linebacker(People had to gameplan around him) was James. Beckwith had the potential but injuries slowed him down his last two years. Ali was outstanding for his all-around play but I don't think anyone had to formulate a gameplan specifically to thwart him. KS has serious potential and could have the ability to dominate in Chief's scheme given his proclivity for moving around. As for the Butkus Award I don't recall any Tiger being a finalist for it though with the current scheme that could change. KS may approach James' team record for tackles next season.

Umm, I think Trev Faulk was still pretty dominant in his 3 years at LSU. He was a 2-time All-SEC LB and 2nd Team All-American in '01. The guy had over 300 tackles in just 3 years...that's pretty sick! That being said, leaving early certainly did hurt his legacy. If he had stayed, he would've probably left LSU as our all-time leading tackler.

Bradie was the last dominant LB at LSU.

Shepard makes tackles well from behind or the side on pursuit, but seldom stops ball carriers head on in their tracks.

gotta mention eric alexander...not a butkus award finalist, not more dominant than bradie, and probably not as good as trev...hell, he wasn't even picked in the nfl draft. but, he was a very important piece of that 2003 championship defense (65 tackles and 5 sacks)and has been with the new england patriots since 2004. i would put him in the top 5 LSU linebackers from this decade.

probably the strongest LB at LSU in the last decade...bradie, trev, cutrera, EJ, beckwith, etc. included. too bad it didn't translate to the field.
