Looking at just the score, I like most wondered if there actually was an improvement vs previous matchups. Lets start with Offense:

Total Yards by year: 2017-306 yds
2014-259 yds
2013-284 yds
2015-182 yds
2016-125 yds

Passing Yards: 2013-241 yds
2017-155 yds
2015-128 yds
2016-92 yds
2014-76 yds

Rushing Yards: 2014-183 yds
2017-151 yds
2015-54 yds
2013-43 yds
2016-33 yds

Avg. Per Rush: 2017-3.6 ypc
2014-3.3 ypc
2015-2.1 ypc
2013-1.4 ypc
2016-1.2 ypc

Time of Possession: 2014-38:16
2017-34:07
2013-26:09
2016-26:05
2015-20:33

Now Defense

Total Yards: 2017-299 yds
2014-315 yds
2016-323 yds
2013-372 yds
2015-434 yds

Passing Yards: 2016-107 yds
2013-179 yds
2017-183 yds
2015-184 yds
2014-209 yds

Rushing Yards: 2014-106 yds
2017-116 yds
2013-193 yds
2016-216 yds
2015-250 yds

Avg. Per Rush: 2017-3.2 ypc
2014-3.7 ypc
2016-4.2 ypc
2015-4.5 ypc
2013-4.6 ypc

Time of Possession: 2014-21:44
2017-25:53
2013-33:51
2016-33:55
2015-39:27

To better compare I just did a simple point system, 5 for first in a stat and 1 for last, etc...

2017: Total 43pts - 22 Off - 21 Def
2014: Total 38pts - 19 Off - 19 Def
2013: Total 28pts - 15 Off - 13 Def
2016: Total 22pts - 7 Off - 15 Def
2015: Total 19pts - 12 Off - 7 Def

This isnt some moral victory post, most here dont believe in those, but this is a positive sign to be optimistic for the direction we are heading.

2013: Total 28pts - 15 Off - 13 Def Lost

i think the effort they put forth means more this year because of the way the start of our season went.

idk anyone who's happy with the outcome, but definitely some reason for optimism, all things considered.

It takes more than one uptick to make a trend.

Heck.. you can't make a positive post even if they did win without someone complaining about something stupid.

Let’s solve this stats issue with one question.

Would you rather have good stats or win the ballgame? And in the words of The New England coach who has multiple Super Bowl trophies, stats are for losers.

We just lost our seventh in a row to Bama. No amount of “feel good” stats is going to make that taste better to me, but each to our own.

You can do whatever you want.

This is just a little weird. I cannot recall any time in the past 20 years or so where people were excited about playing an opponent to a 14 point loss.

I think everyone here os tired of this comment. I havent read one post with someone saying they are happy. If anything this loss is more so disappointing, because we lost by making mistakes, not by getting dominated like in years past. Thats also reason to be optimistic. But I have a pretty good idea that you were one of the guys that predicted a complete blowout dominating win by Alabama, that didn't happen so now you are pissing and moaning saying stats doesn't matter. I guarantee if Alabama would have dominated the stats you would be throwing stats at us left and right, if LSU won the game, but Bama won all the stats you would be pointing at Stats saying we got lucky

Actually my official prediction was a Tigers win.

Everyone else seemed to predict a blowout though.

I get what your trying to say. Some just can't think out of the box. We are closing the gap. From this last game we finish the plays and secure the ball we up set them. THE DAY WILL COME!!
