I wonder how Kobe will react to them not retiring #8 as well.

What are they faking? All of their titles?

Anyway, way to go Shaq! That is a really big honor!

Never had a beef with the Lakers until they ran Shaq out of town and went with 8. Dude's an absolute dillhole and a first-rate dumbass.

Guy got arrested in Colorado and while being questioned by the cops, IMMEDIATELY talked sh!t about Shaq stepping out on his old lady. Think that guy doesn't permanently have the Diesel in his head? Well as soon as he got his 5th ring, he says, "One more than Shaq," to the media.

Screw him. O'Neal was one of-if not the-most dominant big men in the sport's history. Kobe was merely one of the best players of his Era.

Shaq transcended the game and won with class. Kobe won like a b!tch, crying all the way.

I love Shaq. I watched him from his first season at LSU, throughout his Orlando career, L.A., and Miami, and he certainly had his own huge ego problem. I watched him refuse to come into the season in shape during the L.A. championship run. And Kobe is the "first-rate dumbass"? He has also opted for surgeries just before the start of the season instead of at the end of the previous season. He couldn't get along with Penny Hardaway's rise so he left for L.A. He couldn't get along with Bryant's rise so he left for Miami. And that only gained him 2 more years of a relevant career. He also got what he wanted when he asked for Malone and Payton. But I still rooted for him.

Both guys were selfish with big egos. The Lakers made the right choice when forced to by going with the younger player with more upside, but Shaq asked for a trade and a contract renegotiation during Kobe's contract year when he still had 3 years $60+ million left. He wasn't forced out, he manipulated his way out.

quote:

According to Bryant, the team's defense was the issue and not his increased role in the offense.[48] Bryant said that "scoring shouldn't affect (O'Neal's) defense," while O'Neal maintained that "if the big dog ain't me, then the house won't get guarded – period."[48] Due to O'Neal's sensitivity toward criticism, Jackson overlooked O'Neal's shortcomings while maintaining his criticism of Bryant.[49] West told O'Neal that he also had personal rivalries when he played with all-time greats Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor, but O'Neal needed to "stop being a baby ... put the team's success first."

Shaq was "The Man", but he had his major moments of buffoonery too.
