I'm not sure, I just know they're not liabilities out there like most think.

+1

If nothing else, Laird in center and McMullen in right and could DH Foster if he didn't want put Foster out there in right.

Is it safe to say, that behind Laird & Stevenson, Foster & McMullen are the next two fastest guys on the team ?

Jacoby is probably faster than Mcmullen and foster. But thats prob top 5, Bregman close as well

Mainieri obviously thinks the offensive advantages a Laird-Foster/McMullen outfield would give you do not outweight the defensive advantages of a Stevenson-Laird outfield.

It's not all about "Advantages" with PM. Otherwise Rhymes would DH.

If he can pick up a hit here or there and move runners along when needed thats about the best we could hope for. He is a freshman and has been overmatched a lot, but he has been a little better recently than when he was first put in the lineup on a regular basis.

Like I said, that would be the easiest fix...but the fact that McMullen hasn't even been given a chance during all of the lineup tinkering tells me he must not be very good.

He's played right and did well, except for the one he lost in the lights.

I would have agreed 3 months ago without hesitation, but after seeing Foster get a chance I'm not sure you can make an argument he is a better outfielder than Rhymes. I would say its a push at best.

Despite the offensive layoff, it's hard to argue with having the speed of Stevenson and Laird out there for this week since it's basically like playing at the Polo Grounds out there.

Besides the ball he dove on and missed, what other mistake has he made?

Why is everyone dogging the Foster outfield play all of a sudden? He has only made 1 bad play out there IMO

Yeah I'm pretty confident when the balls hit in the air with them out there.

I don't remember anything about McMullen in right other than the play where he lost it in the lights. He hasn't been out there very much has he? Definitely not in the last month, but I don't remember if he played more early in the season prior to the Missouri/Kentucky stretch.

He's played a decent amount out there. Before Stevenson started playing center, he was mostly in right.

Off the top of my head he took a terrible angle in the Saturday South Carolina game and let a single/possible double turn into an easy triple. He also badly misplayed a ball off the wall against Florida.

Because he didn't see regular time out there until recently, and very soon after is when you could notice the difference between him and the others.

Foster dove on a ball he shouldn't have, misplayed a ball off the wall, and made a throw towards home that shouldn't have been cutoff that could've gunned down a runner

Laird has lost one in the lights, dove once when he shouldn't have, didn't have the arm to gun down a runner he should've against Ole Miss game 2

Foster dove on one he shouldn't have

McMullen lost a ball in the lights

Any other errors i'm forgetting?
