Bigger things to pay up for right now than women's basketball frankly. I want a new coach as much as the next person but it's a 4th tier sport here clearly way behind Football, Baseball and men's basketball. Could argue it's moving behind even softball.

Pokey Chatman - come on, we all know it would've been ideal for her to have the job for 30 years but it's over.
Jeff Walz - don't see any reason he'd leave Louisville. Also he makes more than Nikki so probably a million+ to get him.
Kenny Brooks - good candidate
Niel Ivy - doubt any assistant gets a look
Toyell Wilson - same
Gail Goestenkors - supposedly she left Duke because Alleva wouldn't pay her since she couldn't win a title. She's not really in the position to turn up her nose at this job but people hold grudges. She's the most natural candidate IMO.

Phenomenal coach

Young too.

2007–08 Princeton 7–23 4–10 6th
2008–09 Princeton 14–14 9–5 3rd
2009–10 Princeton 26–3 14–0 1st NCAA First Round
2010–11 Princeton 24–5 13–1 1st NCAA First Round
2011–12 Princeton 24–5 14–0 1st NCAA First Round
2012–13 Princeton 22–7 13–1 1st NCAA First Round
2013–14 Princeton 21–9 11–3 T–2nd WNIT Second Round
2014–15 Princeton 31–1 14–0 1st NCAA Second Round
2015–16 Princeton 16–4 5–1
Princeton: 185–71 (.723) 96–21 (.822)

The current staff has decided that they are not overly interested in signing in-state players to athletic scholarship's. They felt they were burned by some of the top players signed by them that did not play for the Tiger's due to discipline & academic problems.

Last year they were interested in signing in-state players as walk-on's... They missed out on a very good group of players at the 1 & 2 (G) position...

Louisiana has too much talent to take this approach. The current staff needs to look at themselves and realize the fault falls on their shoulders for not doing their due diligence in who they signed in-state in the past.

Saintsfan22, I agree here for the most part.
I just don't understand why people keep bringing Pokey's name up. Not only will she never coach at LSU again, she'll never coach in COLLEGE again. Why don't folks see that?

Honestly, I wanted them to get Jeff Walz back when they were doing the search originally. Nikki was my second choice. But now that he's taken Louisville to a final four, I just don't see why he'd make the move UNLESS we paid him $1.5 million. At Louisville both basketball programs get great support, they play in an A+ arena (Yum Center) and he's in a great conference.

If we're gonna go after assistants, Niel Ivey might be worth a try. She's a GREAT recruiter like Pokey was. Only thing is we're not sure how she is in the X's and O's department. Same with Toyelle Wilson, although she was a GREAT head coach at PVAMU.

Gail would be a good selection too, if you want to go after someone with a proven track record. But then again, she had a hard time at Texas. She couldn't recruit while there so, how would she recruit at LSU?

How come she couldn't win more at Texas?

I don't see us going after an unknown assistant, likely a proven HC that has shown consistency and can coach. Which is why I mentioned the Princeton coach, we will not know how great of a recruiter she is until she gets here, but she sure as hell couldnt be worse then Nikki has been, plus, to have the type of record and to be 1st in the conference every year practically, as well as being recognized on a national level at a school like Princeton speaks volumes.

Situation was similar to Nikki here. She didn't have an ace Texas recruiter so the best talent went to A&M and Baylor and her teams were hurt by constant injuries.

Banghart Is a great candidate!!! I'm sure if she can find great Ivy League talent, she bring in some good talent at LSU.

TWO Bench PointsPosted on 2/17/16 at 10:40 pm
01
That's not going to win you many ball games especially when Quarterman and Blakeney combined for 8 points tonight.

TIGERBAIT 357 this is from the mens game today

REMEMBER... you said last sentence...

Lady Tigers basketball
Pretty sure this loss might secure her exit, I don't see us even coming close to anyone remaining on the schedule. I cannot remember a worse LSU basketball team.

She needs to go though, she can't recruit, which is 80% of the battle in college basketball anyways. I'm over it, I am beyond frustrated at this point. She needs to be canned as soon as the last game is finished. I know we are short handed but we just suck almost at every phase of the game. Its just laughable how many open shots we were spotted all game and can't even convert any.

Its not like we are .500 and have had an off season, its pretty embarrassing from how we play and just the talent level. Even some of the other LSU athletic teams who weren't so hot werent this bad.

I laughed so hard when I saw their bench out scored us like 30 something to 4

Looks like Tennessee is setting their sites on going after Jeff Walz, so we can probably cross him off our list.

Walz to UT?

Not gonna lie, we probably aren't going to get someone like Waltz right now. We have some major issues. Its going to take years to fix it. If Alleva is smart, he should be looking around right now.

It's not just how low we are, he probably shouldn't take the UT job either.
