Guys like Drayton80 refuse to understand your reasonable response.
To him Daniels should be able to average 350 yds passing a game whether he has talent around him or guys that will never sniff the NFL and become accountants after they graduate.
For the life of me I just don’t understand why some people can’t understand that a QB is only as good as his Oline and playmakers around him. It’s a team game. Not a one man show.

All you have to do is go watch his games but you excuse makers refuse to do that. His supporting cast included an oline that led a rushing attack to 195 ypg, four 4* WRs, two 4* athletes who were moved to WR and the #1 Defense in his league. Everyone progressed except him.

100%. Many remained convinced that Les thought the QB was an unimportant position.

Look at his freshman year plus he a 67% completion , and new WR not to bad for a no confident year

Yikes, tough crowd. I think most missed my point. We’re heading into a new season with two options at QB. One is coming off a less than stellar year in the PAC-12 and the other hasn’t played a meaningful snap in his career. Both are learning a completely new offense.
Why should we be confident we are going to have good QB play? No knock to either kid, I hope which ever one gets the nod, kills it. I’m just not confident heading into the season that we will have good QB play this year.

I started a similar thread a couple days ago. I agree 100%. JD was not a good passer last year.
Unless he has grown considerably, JD is gonna cause me to have ulcers.

To be fair, maybe he has improved and maybe Denbrock has coached him up well. All we have to judge it off of is his 2021 season and he was less than stellar then. Hints my lack of confidence coming into this season.

Anyone that is confident that we are going to have stellar QB play with a transfer QB and a new offensive coordinator is wearing P&G glasses.

Whatever JD may lack in the passing game, Nussmeir has in spades. If oline can pass protect Nuss will shine.

Lack of confidence is completely justified. Everyone talking about him completing 65% of his passes are ignoring only 10 TD and very few yards. Obviously the majority of his passes were near the line of scrimmage and there were very few explosive plays. You have to be able to throw down the field to win games often in the SEC now days. I hope for the best, but people having confidence in him as a QB are just being biased fans. His play and results from last year would have been heavily mocked, if he would have transferred to A&M.
What I been saying for a month now.

You're definitely not alone in not being confident about Daniels. I get that he's very mobile, but we have a freaking top notch WR corps. I just pray the dude lights it up and shows he's made a big jump from last season. And if he struggles and throws a couple picks, I pray Kelly won't hesitate to yank him and put Nuss in. We have a game to win. Put the guy in who can get the ball to Boutte in space.

Since 2007, the only years I can remember feeling good about the QB situation were 2011 (Jefferson improved as 2010 went along then got arrested a week before the season), 2016 (returning starter, promises of change, imploded almost instantly), 2019 ( rare moment of well founded optimism), and 2020 (thought Brennan would pick up where Burrow left off even with Brady leaving).

His uncertainty concerning the starter doesn't exactly exude confidence.
What uncertainty?

I know I’ll get hammered with downvotes. But, I just watched JDs highlights from last year. I hope he was able to make some big strides towards becoming a better passer. I’m confident Denbrock will have a game plan based around JDs strength with his running game. If we get into a situation where we need to throw the ball a ton, I don’t have a lot of confidence in JDs ability to accurately spin it.
We’ll see what happens, good QB play will be the difference in a 7 win season or a 10 win season.
They hear you. They don't wanna hear you but they know.
