I was being sarcastic.. I just cant get over how bad Wet and Beau have been at 3rd. If Koeneman is any worse than those two at 3rd that would be scary.

It's not easy to be quick on your feet when you're 6' or 6'1" and 230lbs or more. I wouldn't think that's your typical 3rd base build.

So what is Wet and Beau's excuse?

Definitely more of a 1st base or DH build.

well koeneman isn't a third baseman, never has been, and didier isn't either, by trade at least. koeneman is a first baseman and didier is a second baseman. they're playing there out of necessity

Why doesn't PM move Koeneman to the outfield to fill in for the injured Watkins (I'm not a huge believer in Dishon)? You can hide poor defense easier in right field, and shift Mahtook to center, where he played last year.

You still have the third base problem, but you have three guys to rotate. Unfortunately, all hit lefty so we can't create a platoon which is the obvious solution.

because koeneman is way too slow. dishon is a good fielder and his bat is plenty good enough, netter than helenihi was last year. it's funny that koeneman gets one hit against a terrible team and people are calling for him to start. i guess the new guy is always gonna be everyone's favorite to step in

Since when does a right fielder have to be fast? And if a guy can't play right field, he literally can't play any position. It is the easiest defensive position on the field. You are arguing that Koeneman is so terrible that he cannot play the field at all. I find that extremely hard to believe.

I was one of the few Helenihi defenders, but there's a huge difference between sacrificing offense for defense at third base and doing the same in right field, which is essentially a hitter's position.

Koeneman put up monster numbers in JUCO. I was excited to see if they were real numbers in the offseason. And I'm only calling for him to start in the slot opened up by injury ahead of a guy who is a backup. It's not like I, or anyone, is calling for him to play over Landry or Mahtook.

Odds of getting hurt at 3rd are pretty slim
You have to take your chance with Dozar, he's the best hitter.

In a pinch the C might have to be Dishon and Fury

um, you can't be 6' 240-250 and be as slow as him and play anywhere in the outfield. and i think you mean left field not right field. look at guys like vladmir guerrero. he's close to being moved to dh because he lacks the speed to cover the gaps and down the lines, and i would venture to say he'd beat keoneman by 10 yards in a 40

again, i'm not ready to want someone to start in sec play with as little d-1 experience as koeneman. he's still raw. i have no problem starting him in midweek games to get his feet wet
