If my only options are keep Les or hire Shrimp Boat with a $12M buyout, I keep Les. At least Les's buyout would have continued to decline and we could have still fired him this year or next and hire PJ Fleck.

Go back and look at Miles' record vs ranked teams SINCE 2011. Its not a pretty picture. And after what happened on 1/9, the flood gates just opened for our top recruits to look elsewhere
We weren't finishing in the Top 15 with Miles at the helm, ever again. Or going to a major bowl
Hiring O will at least get Alleva fired. Keeping Miles would not have

After asking this question you can thank your lucky stars that lobotomies are no longer performed.

I would have fired Alleva before Miles, and then fired Miles.
Good answer.

With the benefit of hindsight I would not.

So it's a board of regents or such
That's what I figured

of course not. this is hypothetical hindsight. would the guy who got eaten by crocodiles not take the swim if he knew he was gonna die? at the time, miles firing was still the thing to do. he sold us a bill of goods that was disproven vs wisky. he then lost an sec game to aa team that didn't score a td and he mismanaged the clock....again
