Agreed! Especially in that part of the game.

Kling was 5 for 14 .357 BA since May 1 when he walked to the plate in the 9th. Who on the bench has done better than that????

Nippolt might be even worse than Kling as a reliable hitter.

Kling hit because he was a defensive sub for Frey. Frey is a headscratcher when hes always our first choice to PH but never actually gets a hit should have just rode Larson

Honeycutt on NC is who we wanted Kling to be. Not even close.

Kling is a soph. Honeycutt is a Junior who batted .257 as a sophomore last year .

This season was a total disappointment for him. He had every opportunity to get it going, and never did.

He batted .085 in March.
He hit .265 since April 1st thru tonight.
He hit .357 since May 1st thru tonight.

This board has an irrational hatred for Kling.

It was a reasonable decision. LH up (who had not hit much this weekend) be a LH pitcher in the bottom of the 7th with a one run lead. You figure you take a shot with a RH pinch hitter there considering you were likely going to put Kling in as a defensive replacement sometimes in the next 2 innings.

It was actually a good spot to do it since you figure you shouldn’t have to bat the 9 hole hitter again with a lead and only 2 innings left. Blame Kling. Blame Brown. But the bad decision was to throw in your starting pitcher in a spot (a) he isn’t accustomed to and (b) when you didn’t have to.

Ack had been one of your 2 reliable relievers all year. He wasn’t gassed and had pitched fine the inning before. Jay over thought the situation by trying to go with a premium arm in an unfamiliar role.

The last 3 outs can be high stress. Something Jump had not been asked to do all season.

Not trying to rail on the guy, but if he’s not a good enough hitter to start, he’s not a good enough hitter to run out there in the bottom of the 9th

You might be the dumbest poster asking that question. If you knew anything about the game of baseball you wouldnt of made such a dumb comment.

He was a defensive replacement JJ is hoping they dont tie it up so he would have to bat. They did tie it up and nobody is left on the bench except Nippolt and hes probably used as a pinch runner. And no hes not letting Millazo hit over Kling because then Neal is our only catcher left at that point.

Damn we have some idiot posters

They gave him numerous opportunities to find himself. He never did.

Honeycutt is exactly 11 days older than Kling. So, yea.
