I always thought the #1 slot on Sat was at 2:30pm CT and NOT at night. I know we LSU fans prefer night games at DV, but Sat night slots are not a better slot than the 2:30pm slot.
My preference is that every LSU home game be at night except maybe on Thanksgiving weekend. I also want every away game at 11am CT.

Now THIS I agree with.

This is not a bigger TV matchup nationally than Alabama-Georgia because of Ole Miss and its runt status.
Alabama and Georgia have become national brands. Even LSU is a notch below.
But Ole Miss is another rung or two below that, and so Alabama and Georgia attract more eyeballs nationally. That’s why it’s in the primetime slot. Not because of anything with LSU but because of Ole Miss.

That’s not really true. This was the case under the CBS contract, but that’s because A) their contract gave them an exclusive 2:30 window with no other SEC games in that time slot and B) under that contract they had the first pick every week. So by default, the best game was at 2:30.
If the exclusive window under the CBS contract had been at 6:30 PM instead of 2:30 PM, you would have seen the biggest game played in prime time. And when CBS exercised their option for a double-header, usually the bigger game was indeed in the later slot.
With the current ESPN deal, ESPN doesn’t need an exclusive window because they own all the rights. They can move games around wherever they want to maximize overall viewership. Sometimes that means the biggest game is at 2:30 on ABC. But often (I would even say most of the time) their marquee game is the 6:30 ABC slot in prime time.
Look at the ABC schedule so far:
Week 1
2:30 - (8) Alabama @ (NR) Florida State
6:30 - (9) LSU @ (4) Clemson
Week 2
2:30 - (20) Ole Miss @ (NR) Kentucky
6:30 - (15) Michigan @ (18) Oklahoma
Week 3
2:30 - (6) Georgia @ (15) Tennessee
6:30 - (NR) Florida @ (3) LSU
Week 4
2:30 - (22) Auburn @ (11) Oklahoma
6:30 - (NR) Florida @ (4) Miami
Weeks 5
2:30 - (4) LSU @ (13) Ole Miss
6:30 - (17) Alabama @ (5) Georgia
Weeks 1 and 2, the objectively bigger matchup was in prime time. Week 3 was flipped and week 4 is kind of debatable. Week 5 looks like a toss-up but I think most would expect UGA vs. Bama to get more national viewership than OM vs. LSU.
ESPN also has the ACC rights so it’s possible for the best SEC game to get bumped for a big ACC game (like Miami vs. Florida State in week 6).

He is right but it’s because of Ole Miss. Ole Miss isn’t a national brand. That’s just the way it is. They can tell themselves whatever they want
His time is running out to take a big job again. I know he blew opportunities when he was younger, but he has to strike while the iron is hot. He won’t be in demand for much longer. If that Florida job opens up(or a similar profile job) he needs to get out of Oxford unless he is ok with being 8-4 all the time.

And you will never know so what’s the difference?

When they get blown off their own field it’ll be because those racists didn’t have enough time to get enough of those cold chicken fingers in their system before 2:30. The excuses have already started

Seems like the players would prefer a day game so they could be free on Saturday night.
