People with resumes like his don't publicly state they want something unless they are committed to it.........guys like him don't know how to not be committed.......thats why he is in the HOF
Possibly or it's possible he wants to have the best of both worlds, being a part of football and having his family near him. It's also possible this is something he thinks he wants, but hasn't had to deal with everything that goes into it.
Mawae is no doubt a great guy and great football mind. I trust Les to make the determination on how ready Mawae is for coaching at this level.
Here's a quote from him from August, are we sure his mindset changed in such a short period of time.
quote:
Mawae doesn’t know what his plans are in terms of coaching. He is unsure about the NFL due to the rigorous time demands required of an NFL coach.
“Right now I have two teenagers and my goal right now is to spend as much time with them as possible until they’re out high school.”

OLine coach for a Super Bowl Champion ok with you?
I'd be ok with Moeller. I'd rather Mawae over Washington though.

Touche'
There are a lot of great athletes that fall into that category but I think it's obvious, for the most part, which ones would probably not make a good coach. Mawae, by all indications, should be a great coach.

There's a solid chance he could be a great hire, but we just don't know.
Who the fuk is a guaranteeeeee . There's no such thing. This guys pedigree shits on 99% of OL coaches in the country. If he wasn't all in he wouldn't have inquired.

I'd be shocked if Moeller is a real candidate. I'd rather Washington, then Mawae.

I know this doesn't apply to anything at all, but I can't help myself. Mawae normally sits right next my family in church, just about every Sunday. He speaks quite often about his conversion experience in men's meetings. Want to know what church?
Healing Place!!!! That's right. He's one of THOSE people. He's in a cult!!! Run for the hills. A freak like that can't be allowed around LSU's program.
OK, serious now. I don't like the idea of hiring someone with no coaching experience. We can find someone more qualified.

First off... are you 12?
I never said anyone is a guarantee. I'm saying that someone with actual coaching experience and proven track record at the D-1 or NFL level of coaching, developing and getting the most out of his offensive linemen would be preferable and more of a "guaranteeeeee" than someone who is clearly a bit of a question mark.

Not sure if mentioned already, but wasn't Mawae a Tackle at LSU then switched to Center in the NFL?
I would think his knowledge of technique, anywhere on the entire line, would be unparalled.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. Those that can't teach, coach P.E.

I honestly don't know wtf I just read, and regret having read it in the first place.

I'm sure he could be. But, I'd prefer someone who we KNOW is a great coach. Again, I have the utmost confidence that Les/Cam will do just that.

He's only been an assistant to the offensive line coach. Hell, Mawae has probably done as much actual coaching as that guy.

Good question, wonder what brings on the DVs ?

That's the same thing I was thinking as I read my own post too.

You haven't been paying attention...He has no coaching experience and probably lacks the ability to teach anyone what made him an all american and in the NFL for 16 years.

He's coached with Cam, so he's a known quantity in his eyes. Plus he was pursued by colleges this year, most notably USC. He's a young guy that has a good bit of buzz around his coaching abilities.
If Washington is the guy, that means he was Cam's number one from the beginning.

For skeptics.
Think he is fine with public speaking.

Mawae is married to Tracy Dale Hicks, he proposed to her in the summer of 1992 at LSU Fan Day in front of 140 teammates, 10 coaches and 3,000 fans over the public address system

Then of course we should all be fine with that hire.
