But yeah, Mays seemed a bit off. I thought one of the bigger plays in the game was with under 10 minutes left we were up 2, got a steal and Mays missed a layup on the end, they come back the other way and get an and 1 to go up 1

Under 10? Hell, it was almost at the 3 minute mark. LSU had just gone up for the first time in over 10 minutes on Reath's 3. They come out of a TO, get the steal (up 1) and then Mays unnecessarily forces the shot leading to a UK layup. That sequence completely sucked the momentum away from LSU. LSU would never lead again after that play. Mays will have better nights though.

What killed LSU was going completely cold from 3 after shooting 50% in the first half coupled with terrible defense...again. 7 of Kentucky's first 8 made baskets in the second half where either dunks or layups. In fact, 14 of their 17 made baskets in the 2nd half were dunks/layups. Now to be fair, that's UK's game. But LSU MUST get better on defense if they want to win SEC games. Particularly those where they don't shoot well from 3. LSU made it far too easy for Kentucky to score in the 2nd half...which sucks because they did other things well like win the turnover battle and fight to almost a draw on the boards with a much bigger team.

LSU played good D in the first half. Maybe a little over aggressive, but great effort.

Midway through second half we switched to zone and they got like 5 straight easy buckets. I think wade was trying to save the legs a bit but he had to switch back to man pretty quick

Fair enough, couldn't remember the exact time...no biggie.

Yeah, I think shot selection had something to do with it, I think half of those were ill-advised..at least IMHO.

Defense was bad, after being pretty good in first half. As I mentioned the weakside issues that left a guy wide open under the goal 3 times in a five minute span and the slow rotation on dribble drives were repeated offenses that can't happen....take some frickin charges!!!

They played good D in sputs in the 1st half, but UK still shot 50%. In the 2nd half it wasn't just the zone that hurt LSU. UK attacked the man defense just as easily. It's easier said than done, but just like last year LSU has GOT to do a better job of saying in front of guys on the perimeter. UK was able to drive with ease and LSU's rotations underneath were late. Some of that is simply a lack of talent. Epps will never be a good defender and Simms lacks size. But the communication also has to be better.

Overall, even though still bad, it was a slight improvement on D. LSU isn't going to play many teams with UK's length the rest of the way. So if they can build off of the good things from last night they could start to be much better on D.
