But he is a SMART crybaby.

Weaker set of permanent rivals = an easier path to the playoffs.

Better for both LSU and Bama not to be permanent rivals.

But it really isn't. Both schools know this deep inside.
Each is Unique in its own way but LSU can absolutely gather talent to compete with them and will always be important.

LSU and Bama have won 8-9 titles over the last 20 years.

This is a game people in Washington State and New York even watch when the game is on.

This game is great for College Football as a whole.

LSU/Bama has to happen because it is historically one of the highest rated regular season games of the year…the SEC isn’t giving that up every year.
With that being said, I would rather get Florida in there somewhere…

Football is cyclical. One day Saban will be gone and it will be hard for them to to replicate what they have going on. LSU has gone through terrible times. So has everyone else. It really doesn’t matter.

I posted the below in another thread earlier, more about ATM. but as far as Bama goes I feel you've got to play with and beat the top teams to get the recognition. Plus I now despise Bama and look forward to seeing us overtake them. Ole Miss, long time historic rivalry and even many recent years a thorn in our backsides with alot of folks around here with ties there so. I agree with you 100%

I would be fine with Bama, Ole Miss and ATM. I Know it's fun to hate on aggie, alot of fun because it's so easy and they can be so inviting of it BUT... I lived in Houston for 20 yrs for work before moving back home and it's sooo much fun because 1. There's a TON of LSU fans within a few hours 2. Short drive either way. ...recruiting, most of all talking smack to each and everyone of aggie friends and colleagues for another yr after every win. Granted Florida is a great game too but..I can live with aggie beat downs as 1 of 3 permanents.

But wouldn’t it be nice for a little payback for the last 15 years Saban has been there?
Last year was only the beginning and when we beat them at home next year they will officially be on notice.

Playing those tougher teams helps prepare you for the playoffs. UM had an easy path to the playoffs both years and got rocked each time there. So did OU.

Good point too.

Iron sharpens Iron as they say and what Nick started at LSU and carried into Bama and between them have 9 titles and are out of the same division.
There is no doubt in my mind we have helped with each others success many years for many reasons.
The main one being is direct competition and either getting your arse kicked or keeping up with the game.

Let’s us read from the book of Flair, Chapter 1, Verse 1:

If thy desirest to be the man, thy must defeat the man.

It’s a tough game, but it makes you a national brand, or it keeps us a national brand. It’s also one of our biggest recruiting weekends for big time recruits.

Long term, this sets up nicely I think. This new model will be around for a 20+ years. Saban has about 5 years left in him(max). Aggie will be a bigger concern in my opinion. They will get rid of Jumbo fairly soon and hire a top notch coach because they will pay a billion dollars a year. And Ole Miss is well….Ole Miss

Saban has a 2-3 years Max. He is obviously slowing down and 5 years isn't happening.
Either way its our time.

We need Bama on the schedule because it makes LSU better. Iron sharpens iron, or so I’ve heard. Nuff said.

A&M is important for recruiting reasons. Either them or the Longhorns. I’m good either way.

Ole Miss hasn’t been relevant in forever. Don’t need the game for Mississippi recruiting. I could take that one or leave it.
