Students begging for and defending the right to insult/vulgarize in unison is simply a "class" issue; for which we are showing none.
At the end of the day, are you high-fiving yourselves for the chant? Are you telling yourself that this is the only wat to make tiger stadium loud and intimidating? If so, you must be a loser.

I want to say, I first recall hearing it directed toward refs after a few especially crappy calls. This would have been in the '80s. It sort of started to snowball in the '90s, when dipshits thought they had to yell it every time.
The first time I remember hearing it clear and loud during Tiger Rag was against Auburn in 01. It was their/his first trip here following the cigar game, the game was in December because of 9/11, and the West was on the line. It really stuck after that.

The GGs still say were playing it. It hasn't been banned yet soooo I don't see what everyone is freaking out over.
According to the daughter of one Roy King it's gone.

The indignant uproar over swearing is both astounding and hilarious. Both organized and impromptu profanity is a student section tradition dating back to the 1960's and 70's, based on the anecdotal evidence I've gathered. I doubt it is going to spontaneously cease in 2012. Really not a big deal. They're only words.

Did I say that there was? No. I am pretty sure that I said organized PROFANITY is a tradition dating back to the 60's and 70's, not organized profanity using any one lewd phrase.
Also, I'm not sure what your point is? Using other profanity like a*shole and f*ck is tolerable, but a reference to feline fellatio isn't?
This is all much ado about nothing, IMO. The kids are going to swear. They've been swearing for decades, in one way or another. It's pretty frivolous.

How about upgrading season ticket holders to the student section area, and moving the cussing kids up top? Can't hear anything from up there...

Public profanity at football games isn't unusual.
It's ritualization and national broadcast of coarse slogans is.
It's classless, un-necessary and reflects poorly on the program.
As does the response,
"We're the students and it's our team, we'll be as abusive, drunk and classless as we want."

So many people speak of coming back to an LSU game with their kids after 5-1-15 years, would not want to be the first thing I hear when the game kicks off...it's been growing for the last few years...threatening to move the student section would make them take notice.

If by ritualization, you mean organized profane chants, I'm fairly certain the students have been employing such chants since at least "a-hole, a-hole," or even before. It's not a novel phenomena.

people are confusing that one vulgar chant that was said in unison maybe 2 times. (ie. Teabag Tebow) with constant sucking dick cheers to scripted songs that play throughout every game.
