You answered your own question. He was different in high school because he was under mommy’s roof but now he’s on his own with everyone else. A lot tends to charge in that one year. He’s just not ever going to be good enough to play SEC ball that I can see. He’s the Michelin blimp up top with chicken legs; about the worst combo you can ask for to play OL. He’d have a better shot somewhere like Southeastern or Southern if he just wanted to stay home and play.

The only reason you think this kid was good is because he was a 5 star.
As you said, he has never looked like a college athlete. His body was going to have to severely change in order to do well. This hasn't happened.

Loston didn’t set the world on fire, but he played on special teams from day 1 and started a bunch of games for us. There are a ton of guys who you could label as a bust, but Loston isn’t one in my opinion.

There were another ~6 that fall in Loston’s category of maybe overrated for a 5* but contributed consistently as a quality starter.
We’ve covered all those busts by recruiting lower stars so well over the years. There were three out of four years we didn’t recruit a 5* and in 2017, for instance, Jet was literally our lowest rated recruit! And in one of those “no 5* years” Brad Wing was our lowest rated recruit, so that’s two years right there where literally the lowest rated recruit is an All American.

I remember watching his camp tape when he was just a sophomore. He wasn’t in pads but he was going against a bunch of older kids and literally tossing them around and owning every single one of them. I didn’t watch any of his actual HS game film but thought he was going to be a monster just from that one day of camp film. Sad.
