Henry Ruggs went 12th overall to the Raiders. The Broncos drafted Jerry Jeudy with the 15th choice. The Cowboys had CeeDee Lamb fall to them at 17. The Eagles selected Jalen Reagor at No. 21.

Justin Jefferson‘s unanticipated wait ended with the 22nd choice when Vikings called his name.

quote:

“I mean, yes,” Jefferson said Thursday on The Zach Gelb Show when asked if he was surprised by the wait.

“I felt like I was the best receiver in this draft class, and being the fifth receiver off the board, it kind of was a shocker.

But also having that on my shoulder going into this next season with Minnesota, I’m definitely excited to show the world what I have.”

quote:

Jefferson made 111 catches for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns in LSU’s national championship season.

He vows that every team that passed on him will pay for their mistake.

quote:

“Every single person that picked a receiver instead of me are going to pay,” Jefferson said.

“I’m going to show them that I am the better receiver than the pick that they had. . . . I’m definitely excited to go into Minnesota and [compete] for [a] Super Bowl.”

quote:

“I never really was afraid of pressure,” Jefferson said. “I never really was trying to avoid pressure. Pressure busts pipes.

So in order to control everything, you just kind of got to be your own. You got to go in this time, this zone, that you have to be in, having to work out by yourself.

You kind of have to be in right now. I’m just putting in the time and the effort and just doing all these workouts, just trying to stay in shape and just trying to go into Minnesota with my mind focused on what I have to accomplish.”

Hope he goes for 3 touchdowns, 200 yards every game while Minnesota goes 0-16

I love JJ, but that's an old cliche' we've heard before...

Man he needs to focus on playing in the league first. Stop be so drama based. Before this year name me 5 people that thought he would go in the first round? Man just shut up and play.

I like his ambitious, competitive attitude.

Imagine passing on Justin Jefferson for Jalen Reagor, who has been comped to Nelson Agholar. Couldn’t be me, will not be me, shall not be me!

The Chiefs were smart and knew to take Clyde even though he wasn’t projected as the best RB....I guess that’s why they are SB champs. I have a feeling Jets will make a few teams pay for sure. Wanted him to be a Saint so bad.

I can understand Jeudy, Lamb, and Ruggs but Reagor to the Eagles is wak as the kids use to say.

I don’t mind this attitude, having a chip on your shoulder can help certain athletes, but it’s not like he was picked in the 7th round. 22 overall for a receiver is pretty damn good.

Meh, whatever, but he’s a first rounder, and the later in the round, usually it’s to a better roster. CEH went last in round one to the Super Bowl champs....he’s probably very happy....

Clyde is a great fit there. But this statement makes no sense

agreed. It's one thing if a guy drops several ROUNDS -- then he can have a chip on his shoulder. But come on JJ, you were a first round pick.

I think it's just something guys feel compelled to say. Just play ball and do your thing - it will all work out.

Agreed. And I'm not sure I saw more speculation regarding a certain team and player (other than Burrow and Young) leading up to the draft than Jefferson and Philadelphia. Seemed like an obvious great fit to everyone.

Vikings lucked out getting to replace Diggs with Jefferson.
