Just when you thought the officiating can’t get any worse

Oh indeed. You know it's coming down hard on LSU because Texas/Ole Miss don't like LSU is using their own competitive advantages against them. They leaned on SEC and Sankey opened them up to lawsuits from a reactionary move due to LSU. Now that LSU showed them up and middle-fingered them, they absolutely will make the refs give LSU hell this year. Playoff committee probably will select someone else too if they a bubble team.

They got enough control over the refs to do so as you already see mass corruption in games with refs definitely leaning heavier into one team than the other. If you don't think SEC offices and betting has a hand in this, well, I have a bridge to sell you if you're still that naive. It's a tale as old as time. Soon as betting took over sports, you have mass corruption among refs. It's about money. SEC needs their schools positioned in the playoffs to make more money.

Same could be said about a power play over holding a firm grip and control on the conference as the governing force behind it. With NCAA sports threatening to split up and they need to retain as much power as possible and when money schools like Texas lean on them because the swamp rats using their same competitive advantage, yeah, they going to hold on to what little power they can enforce anywhere to stick it. They need someone to be made an example. LSU doesn't have the influence over the conference like someone like Texas has with their money.
