I'm guessing he meant the fact that Bama winning made LSU fans delusional and unrealistic.

It's kind of a fair comparison. Bama gets the easier schedule every year, so we have a MUCH thinner margin of error than they do, thus they can win titles as long as they beat us. LSU, not so much. We can get past Bama next year, but we still have to beat UGA and UF. Two of those 3 are on the road. THen, if we manage to beat bama and only lose 1 of the other games, we still have to win the rematch against UF or UGA in the SECCG. The odds are stacked HEAVILY against LSU next year.

Bama on the other hand, just has to worry about beating us and UF or UGA next year. That's it.

so, Bama winning titles will make LSU fans feel like Les is worse than he actually is. We didn't learn our lesson from when we got rid of Charlie Mac. Sure, Bama was getting theirs and beating him, but he was also beating everyone else in CFB. Saban is very similar, except that he hasn't dominated us. Of course, we could always repeat history and get rid of Miles only to mire in mediocrity/shitshowness for 2 decades.

Cholly Mac strung together many seasons comparable to what we had in 08-09, Miles' worst seasons at LSU. He won the conference once? And beat Bama what? Twice? In nearly two decades of coaching? Miles is far superior to Cholly Mac. And I think his idiotic point was that they were equals.

Saban will win his team's division for the first time in 3 years this year.

it has bothered me forever. How many coaches would have won 11 games with all of that going on around them??

I have often wondered what would have happened that season if Nick was still here. I don't know if the team could have survived him and the other stuff

and stache said it earlier. It came down to Petrino and Miles. Could any of us imagine what Petrino would have done in 05 with all that crap going on????

he probably would have posted his resignation on here

Stache grt thread man!!!!! Idiots who say we can't compete with bama r need to have a #1 recruiting class is ridiculous, 9 times out of 10 LSU n bama game will always determine the SEC..... Also I would bet that LSU/Bama will meet with both teams undefeated more times in the nxt 5-8 yrs then they will with either team having a lost.... LSU has over came many obstacles this yr w/ ineligiblity, injurys, n players gettn kicked off the team!!!! Any other school other than bama would lose more then 2 games..... Bama n LSU r talently tied, I bet after this recruiting class coming in nxt yr LSU will be the superior of the conference I yes to come!!!!!

great thread i agree 100% clm is one of the best all time....and its funny that when you asked for someone to name who is a better coach right now other than saben no one can come up with a answer..all these people that are so negative when it comes to clm can never answer that question..... whose better than miles.i have been waiting for that question to be answered for a long time.

Somewhere the negatigers are lurking in the corner taking notes and waiting for the smallest mistep from miles or the team as a whole to remind everyone in this thread why Miles "sucks" so bad.

They will ignore the insurmountable evidence that he infact is a great coach, and will instead point to his choice of shoe on game day as an obvious indication of mental retardation...

And THEN they will tell us we are delusional sunshine pumpers who cherish moral victories and are ignorant.

What is this supposed to mean? To act like Les can't beat bama is beyond delusional.

Slow down there cowboy. Nobody said that he can't beat Bama. I'm just saying that getting rid of a coach because they can't beat a team that can beat Jacksonville Jags (LOL) would be silly. Nobody is really beating Bama. You had too many Monstor drinks at lunch today.

Love this thread Stache. Thanks for the perspective - that's what this is all about. I certainly don't agree with everything Les does - and I think Les believes he should have made different calls from time to time.

I believe Miles could have come to LSU in '99 and won. And big, like he does now. He did at Ok St, he built them up into a winner. The difference is, Saban got the chance in '99 first. He did great after we sucked for 10 years. Now, Les is compared to him - it's all perspective.

Les has demonstrated he wins - those are the facts, don't always agree with everything but the man wins. And he'll keep doing so.

I'm not hyped up at all, actually. Just pointing out that a Miles coached LSU team can (and does) beat a Saban coached Bama team...and they are always evenly matched. Read whatever you want into that.

OMG, you guys are pumped up today. I remember that many LSU fans felt that Cholly had to go because they felt Cholly Mac could NEVER beat Bama. We know that's not reality. The Bear was bigger than life to most LSU fans and we hated Bama then same as now. If you asked people who's the better coach: Saban or Miles??? 90% of the nation would say Saban. That's what they think. That's what they thought about Bear vs Cholly Mac, though it was true with Bear Vs Mac. People don't always pay attention to facts, they rather run with ideas that pop into their heads. We know Miles coaches different from Saban but they are not like comparing Mac vs Bear. Miles has beat Saban, that's obvious. I've been watching the games too. I'm just saying that people lose sight of facts and believe the lies. It happens everyday, yesterday was an example.......

BUT LSU fans were NOT as spoiled as they were back then. Plus A 8-3 7-4 record back then was still ok.make a bowl [ANY BOWL] and its still cool.

So true. When we went to a game, you didn't always feel you wore going to win. Every game we attend not, we not only feel like we should win but we are angry that we didn't blow them away.

Miles is a great. Too many people on these sites beat him down. I am an LSU fan, always have been, within a 50 minute drive of State College. Les keeps me on my toes; he is unpredictable, sometimes to a fault. Paterno & staff was the exact opposite. Way too predictable. Both lost games because of their style. BUT I'll lose Les Miles's way anytime. Paterno rarely used freshmen. Miles has no fear to use them. He uses many players - gives the young ones a chance - a major reason why LSU is always loaded. THEY ARE RECRUITED AND SIGN ON BECAUSE THEY HAVE SUCH A HIGH PERCENTAGE CHANCE TO PLAY AS A NEW RECRUIT. I think players like Les & will play hard. Someday fans will realize they have a great coach: Let's hope it ios not toooo late.

I wish it weren't so, but you are right about being evenly matched. IMHO that's the reason for the hatred that's blooming between the two programs. Every year, both teams know the biggest obstacle to an MNC is this game. Based on the quality of coaches among our traditional rivals, I see this becoming THE game to win each year. To me, Miles seems like an idiot. However, I've concluded that his idiotic persona brilliantly disguises his genius. If you lose Miles, you will not find one better.
