It’s very difficult and unusual to win national championship in any sport. Everything needs to fall into place.
I think in today’s instant gratification culture, people have either forgotten that or simply don’t accept it as the fact that it is. There is so much “anything less than a National Championship is a failure of a season that demands explanations and apologies from coaches, but will only dismiss them as “excuses,” incapable of comprehending the difference between excuses and reasons.
That’s most fanbases with the resources and history of winning championships. However, I think it’s worse with dumb LSU fans, because we are in a unique position of having won 5 out of 10 with Skip in the 90s, won 3 in 16 seasons in football with 3 different coaches, the 1st of whom wound up at a conference rival create an unprecedented monster of a machine while not accepting that it is a huge outlier that will probably never come close to happening in any of our lifetimes.
It is hard to win NCs. Really fricking hard. And it should be—it makes doing it all the more special. But this whole you win one or your season was an abject failure is a terrible perspective to have as fans and prevents enjoying the journey of watching really good teams and appreciating really good players and coaches.

Baseball and basketball are interesting in NIL. Much smaller rosters means less payouts. A smaller school can definitely focus hard on one sport and buy some championships, given the right alumni base.

A school almost has to be a national championship contender just to survive in the SEC.
All the SEC schools are getting better.
All the SEC schools are getting better.

Don’t you know the drill, we’re always “possibly the best ever” just don’t expect to win anything. That’s The Rants motto.

I agree, I think in the 20's we could realistically see Nattys in Football, Baseball, & Men's and Women's Basketball
