in unrelated news, this is actually a pretty damn good deal by the Hornets
thornton is considered quite the defensive liability, and Landry provides a much-need big man

you have a 3 and a post that play defense, and you need a shooter/scorer to go with paul.
now paul's gonna leave next year, we'll probably be in seattle anyway.

What? Belly Nelly and Green is no where the scorer MT is. Hornets need a guard who can score and they traded away their only asset who can do that. IMO, the log jam is now at the 4 and 5 positions. Even though there's not much quality, there's a significant log jam now while leaving the 2 guard spot very thin. Hornets will definately have to move some people Anderson, Gray, Mbenga, etc. now and get another 2 guard who can score better than Belly Nelly and Green.

Landry is a very good player. Give him a few games and Hornets fans will love him. He is great in the 4th quarter.

Didn't the Hornets trade Kobe for Vlade Divac?
Posted on 2/23/11 at 9:38 am to thecreelymac
Well that will screw the Hornets when Chris Paul leaves for New York at the first free agent opportunity he gets. Very short sighted, but who cares about the Hornets anyway. Good luck Marcus!

Jerry West
Best trade in NBA history. Sent Vlade to Charlotte to move up in the draft for Kobe and created salary cap room to sign Shaq as FA

Good for him. The guy has been jerked around since coming to New Orleans. This is one of them that will come back and bite the Hornets on the arse. Then again, does it really matter, they just a soon leave now, they are all but done in New Orleans.
Are you serious? You fools amaze me. Dude got a chance as a second-round draft pick in New Orleans. He really got screwed there. And that roster spot and guaranteed contract? Marcus Thornton is raped again.
I hope you never get on the Hornets bandwagon. I bet you don't even follow LSU basketball closely.

Yeah, with that new arena they built for the Sonics, they are destined to put another team in Seattle.

Fail in all of this! Got a chance in New Orleans for being a 2 round pick, please explain where he got the chance here? Then you go on to say he is raped again? Please explain that one. Seems like you did a whole bunch of talking in circles. Was never really on the Hornets bandwagon, followed them a little yes, but with having Directv not much I can do about watching them and getting excited. Please explain why would I want to follow LSU Basketball as of right now?
FYI, Kings are a young team and if they can get there act together, he is much better off with them.

good we don't need slapdick fans like you. I love thorton but if that's the only reason to get excited for the hornets then jump on the lakers bandwagon with the rest of them

Classic. See if you can follow me here. The Hornets drafted him and actually put him on the active roster, which isn't very common for 2nd round picks. He got to play a lot his rookie year and made a name for himself. The new staff came in and he doesn't fit the scheme, so his minutes dropped and he started pouting. He seems to get over this, but his defensive limitations kept him from seeing more minutes.
Now, the Hornets recognize, like most of the league, that he's a helluva scorer, not much of a defender at a position that they were loaded at. Instead of letting him rot away on the bench for the rest of the year, they trade him to a team in Sacramento whose scheme is all about points. That will fit him perfectly. You even stated that you recognize this. The Hornets were able to make a huge upgrade at a position of need, as well. It's better for both parties. Why whine about it?
I will always pull for Marcus. The guy is a blast to watch when he gets going. That doesn't change me liking the Hornets.

I realize he did not fit with the scheme, but why are we still trading away scorers for defenders when we are 4th in total defense and 27th in total offense.

One great thing about anti-Marcus fans...they say he is bad at defense (very overblown) but all abouti Belli playing
