Looking back on the first game, I think the players knew they were lucky to win. LSU's two biggest plays in that game (Jefferson's 18 yard run and his long pass to Shepard) were busted plays. I would guess that the memory of the first game, coupled with the dismal performance by the offense in the first half of the title game deflated the team.
Sad statement right there.

That is what you get when you would rather have a QB with feet not eyes. With the Saints playing a tough Niners defense today, I'm waiting with anticipation to see if Brees is replaced with a QB that has more mobility (Not saying Met. is Drew Brees). Obviously, Lee was not going to see the field either.

I think the fake field goal for the first down was the biggest momentum changer.

Chicken, Thanks for bringing some sanity to the Rant
Shocking. Face it you would support any thread not bashing the pitiful play we witnessed from your QB. Of course, I am not discounting that you might just be sucking up to the boss...

If I remember correctly, it wasn't for a first down, but the refs gave them one anyway.

It's been noted that the toss lead, the play that was the foundation of our attack, was not run until 8 minutes left in the game. We abandoned what we have done all year to become an freaking option team for the biggest game in the history of the program.
