I actually enjoy reading everyone's posts about re-watching. I'm sure as hell not going to but do like seeing thoughts on where we broke down. Thanks for the analysis Chicken

I also rewatched it and I will say that the Defense played it's arse off, however they were never able to get the type of stop that would have flipped the field and give the offense a short field to work with... Many aren't talking about this...

I have been really hard on Jefferson's performance in the game.

Perhaps I need to rewatch. At the time, I was obviously completely emotionally invested in the game.

Probably saw things skewed.

The only thing they didn't do is get a turnover. They spent way too much of the game on the field. LSU got the ball first and couldn't move it at all when that happens it hard to flip field position.

Throwing deep would have required good protection...that was not happening through most of the game...I still feel like we should have take more shots down the field though...at least back the defense off all of our underneath plays.

LSU still had a glimmer of hope before JJ's colossal mistake the second half.
are you referring to the interception? Well, Bama ended up missing a FG on the drive after the INT.

yeah, that one was on Jefferson. The second drop in shotgun was low, but the play had no chance. Bama's defense was going to smother that play regardless.

Yea, that first one was on JJ and if you look he had the same look towards PJ that he gave SW on "the flip". It just looked like the blocking was good enough to get 4-5 yards on 3rd and 2 to Ford. Second was a bad snap, and bama likely would have squashed that play anyway.

He played better in the first half than the second. The only opportunities he got in the first were fairly lame opportunities. The second half is when it unraveled.

Good for you, Tuesday morning I deleted from my DVR and took down my LSU flag and put up a Saints flag

I have actually gone back and watched every offensive play on DVR.

I agree with you here. The QB did not really lose the game. In fact, I'm not convinced we really could have thrown long too much. On the few plays I can see the receivers in their routes, they are only maybe 7 yds downfield before the QB is being flushed. Looks like it would have taken a Rothleisberger-type busted play to get a ball deep. Maybe that's why JJ kept playing?

Bottom line is that the failure to switch QBs was more than likely actually a non-issue in this loss.
May have made a better show of "trying", but really what we needed was better blocking - and that one big play that we always got all year.

JJ was changing the plays at the line of scrimmage. No? If the first option was covered he tucked and ran.
JJ was looking over to the sideline and then changing the play. And the one time in the first half he tucked and ran, the receivers were tightly covered...Mussberger and Herbstreit even pointed that out.

Don't blame JJ for the first half. That was a team effort...offense, defense and special teams.

True, but if I am not mistaken we kept ourselves out of the shotgun a good bit, right? If so, why not try some quick passes out of the gun to soften the pressure?

I know what Bama did. I would've liked to have seen what LSU would've done on that drive. There was a lot of running room for JJ on that play. Could've got something going at the time. Hell, even a long field goal might have given LSU the spark they needed. We'll never know though.

Remember, 1/2 of LSU's offense this year was their defense and special teams, all year. This did not happen in the BCS game. Plus our passing offense is ranked maybe 108th in the NCAA. We are very lucky we lost 21-0 since we did not want to be there as Bobby Bowden said twice last month here in the Palm Beach Post, rematches do not work!

I rewatch the game 2!! If we could have ran the ball on 1st down then it would have been a different game. ALABAMA FRONT 7 DESTROYED OUR OLINE!! The false starts killed or drives before they started. Add that with jefferson fumbles and dumb option pitches and les dumb play calling and that is the reason we had 0 freakin points!!

I have seen several comments in the last few days about Bama adjusting to what we had success with in the first game. I tend to agree with that and I have to wonder why Les wouldn't take that into account.

I texted my brother-in-law the old insanity definition - repeating the same behavior and expecting a different result. He agreed.

Oh, and I deleted the Tivo recording shortly after the end of the game so I wouldn't be tempted. Glad I did. I have been much calmer since.

Last year, Lee played meaningful reps in games, especially in the Florida and Bama games. Even this year, when Jefferson was reinstated, the QB's rotated in games.

The team needed a spark, or, at the very least, Jefferson needed to sit the bench for a series to compose himself.

The fact that we had a two-QB system at several critical times in the last two seasons and not in the biggest game in Miles' career will always baffle me.

I wish someone could watch and tell me if they saw the same thing out of Hurst, that I saw.

To call him a turnstile, is an insult to turnstiles.
