Serious question- but who would have the authority to tell us NO? I see this belief all the time in these threads, some variation of “we had to cut a deal” or “had to make promises so they’d let us have a tiger“… etc… a deal with WHO? Promises to who? Yeas there is some group that sanctions Tiger Sanctuaries, but thousands of people own tigers without having to obtain sanctions - if they took away our TIGER SANCTUARY DESIGNATION, then we would not have an officially sanctioned tiger sanctuary; we would STILL HAVE A TIGER….
It was, IIRC, a VOLUNTARY Compliance; no one is the official “TIGER POLICE”- who could come and have the authority to take our tiger away ? PETA can raise hell and whine about things but they have no authority…

The Fed (USDA I think) is a major player. When we got Mike VII, we nearly got a tiger from an unaccredited facility which would have left us totally screwed once he's gone.
It's not as simple as it was 50 years ago.
