How can y'all compare maybe one of the best hitters to play the game to a freshmen? Bunt Cabrera? Holy shite that is retarded.
Because he just as good against his competition as Cabrera is against his.

It was the 4th inning. You talk like it was bottom 9. Don't bunt your 3 hole that early. At the time, you don't know that 1 run wins it.
And as others have already said, it's not a guarantee of a run anyway. Bunting, statistically, wasn't the right call there

Well obviously Bergman isn't Cabrera, but relative to their competition, it is close. In his Triple Crown year last year, Cabrera had an OBP of .393. This year Bergman has an OBP of .427. The idea of bunting either (in the 4th inning!!!) is insane to me.
For the record, Cabrera does slug higher.

Crazy to you but not to me. Give ur team a chance. You not giving ur team a chance. Sucks for you.
Solid reasoning. Are you going to logically explain to me why bunting is right? If you say a base hit scores a run. Then a base hit from the guy you were gonna bunt could put a guy on 1st and 3rd with no outs.
I'll take scenario #2 all day.

After the 3rd inning it was clearly evident that one run would win the game.

I love how giving up an out with your best hitter, a guy with a near 1,000 OPS, is giving your team a chance.

Jus asking... would you have bunted Bregman?quote:Crazy to you but not to me. Give ur team a chance. You not giving ur team a chance. Sucks for you. Solid reasoning. One run was going to win the game and im sure that was very evident early on from everyone watching. Now if this was there #3 pitcher then no we swinging away. But this was the #3 pick in the 2013 baseball draft. Put yourself in a situation to score a run is all im saying and bunting was the best way to get that runner to 2nd..

Seriously what game were you watching? And yes you can make that assumption after the 3rd.

but it was apparent
Nothing was "apparent" 9 LSU outs into the game.
You got a man on 1st in the 4th inning, none out, and your #3, #4, and #5 hitters due up.
Different coaches coach different ways, but nothing I know of says you have to/should bunt in the situation...well, but for those with 20/20 hindsight.

I said bunt or a hit and run would of been fine with me in that situation. But Mainieri did neither. Double Play.........

Just because an unlikely outcome happened doesn't mean it wasn't the right thing to do.
