I agree. As I've stated before, I would start JJ, but have him on a short leash.

I guess the whole point is taht I feel the whole fan base has given up on Lee and that we'll tank if JJ goes down this year. I belive Lee will be good enough to win games and maybe even secure the position if Jefferson goes down. On the flip side, JJ has the tools to put it all together to be the indisputable #1 also. Most importantly, the players have to believe in both. It was clear in 2008 that they gave up on both Lee and Miles.

Really?

Are you serious?

Again, not saying Lee is the man, but JJ should have a short leash like a previous poster said in the UNC game.
And he may well.

However, do you think it is advantageous for JJ to think he is playing with a short leash?

You think that will make him play more loose?

That's not a clear cut situation. There has to be a balance.

Too long a leash, then he may not work as hard or have a competitive drive to push himself.

too short a leash, then he may be too pressured and play tight.

Bottom line, is that a little QB competition could be good for both.

I hope you realize that in Jefferson's first 2 starts he led the team to 30 and 38 points against BCS opponents. Those starts occurred in 2008 which basically throws out this bull shite that Lee knows how to lead an offense better based off of 2008.

Lee did not show anything in the Bama or LaTech game that suggest he should be back on the field. For someone who is trying to earn their spot back those were epic fail auditions.

Because Jefferson showed us so much in that game.

ONE HUNDRED (approximate amount of teams that had a better offense)

You need to go back and watch the games old man.

Jefferson threw a good td in that game and was on his way to having a great game until he got speared.

46? You mean after the run? I watched the spring game about 10 times and Jefferson might have completed 1 downfield pass. Yards after catch does not constitute throwing down field.

When the quarterback is playing an injured Louisiana Tech team, in Tiger Stadium, at night, you are expected to do better than 7/22 for 100 yards. That is just bad. 2 of his passes should have been intercepted and run to the house.

This was supposed to be a rout and Jarrett Lee kept the game close, not executing his passes, making terrible reads, not knowing routes, staring down his receivers. And when he has 5 seconds in the pocket with virtually no pressure, he throws the ball away and gets intentional grounding. That is pretty bad.

We probably win the game if Jefferson doesn't get hurt.

Didn't really have a problem moving the ball until the team gave up at the Ole Miss game.

So your reasoning behind the entire offense being better in 08 is "because Lee is a better QB?" You don't bother to compare actual stats between the two? You don't factor in two completely different offensive lines each had in their respective years?

Simple-minded much?

Actually he provided a spark when he first came in and might would've scored on the first drive if Lafell wouldn't have been lined up wrong on 4th down. He did ok until Bama went up by 2 scores and the running game was taken away. Although I think Lee is a liability at QB until proven otherwise, he does bring a bigger variety of potential throws to the offense, which helps open up the running game.

One of the reasons...a BIG one...that Lee seemed to "move the ball" better, is because we were always playing out of a hole...because he spotted the other team a TD...SEVEN times in the one season he started. LSU HAD to throw the ball downfield! It's like that when you're playing catch-up.
-
And to say people never used the "he's young" excuse is ridiculous. Obviously someone needs to go check the archives. I personally used that very excuse for him...until about the 6th pick 6.
-
Funny, after the Peach Bowl in '08, nobody was saying Lee should have another chance.
-
How many times did we get curbstomped in '09? I know of a couple in '08...embarassing.
