LeBlanc won't receive waiver, but will be available after the fall semester is over.

I guess one silver lining of the late start to the season is that he will only have to miss 5-6 games. That will give him about two weeks to round into shape before SEC play starts. You also hope he can get up to speed quickly given that he has a significant power conference experience and has been practicing with LSU since last season. I'm anxious to see what he can contribute more than any other player simply because he can give LSU something they desperately need...defense!

No, I mean the actual restraining order

I’m all for women’s rights and do sympathize mightily with victims of assault. However, we also live in a culture now that it is not innocent until proven guilty. Josh LeBlanc was accused of multiple things but never charged. He had a temporary restraining order...temporary...of 50 feet.

If you really read the accusations, you’d have to say out loud “why is he not in jail?” Then you continue to read and everything constantly says accused. I can accuse anyone of anything and get a temporary restraining order.

With the season starting late and even that is in question, who knows how many of the scheduled games are played before the SEC season starts. As long as LeBlanc is available for Dec 29th 1st SEC game, I'm not worried about it. If O'Neal has to sit a year, he would be available the middle of January based on the last game he played at UCLA. Not sure how good he is, but Wade has sure gotten huge improvements out of the big men we have had here.

All I'm saying it's not a situation that usually results in a transfer waiver.

Wade did such an excellent job of bringing in talent to complement the core of Watford, Smart and Days. Cam Thomas is a 5-star SG that should add some additional scoring. It's impressive how he finished after missing on Moussa Cisse. I'm excited about the three bigs he finished with. LeBlanc will help right away. O'Neal has the height and athleticism to develop into an elite player. Having an athletic 6'10" big coming off the bench is great thing. Add to that a true 7'0" Center coming off the bench. This is a very exciting team.

Not to quibble, but the only guy he added after missing on Cisse was Penn-Johnson. It remains to be seen how much Penn-Johnson contributes. Yes, he has ideal size. But he was a complete non-factor in two years at Washington...which is somewhat concerning considering they were a pretty bad team last season. He'll get minutes, but expectations probably need to be tempered

Understood. But one thing we were missing badly last year was height and strength in the middle. We really didn't have an answer when teams had a solid inside presence. We have options now with Penn-Johnson and possibly O'Neal. They can let Watford do what he does best.

I didn't have the timing straight on Cisse, but it is still impressive how each year Wade is able to grab at least one elite player and supplement with solid guys with height, whether through recruiting or transfers. I think of all the solid complementary players like Bigby-Williams, Penn-Johnson, O'Neal, M. Taylor. We've had coaches that could recruit great classes once in a while but couldn't sustain that success. It is so critical to be consistent in recruiting with how quickly players leave.

Will Wade does that better than any previous coach.

Yes and no. LSU was one of the best two point scoring teams and rebounding teams in the nation even without a "big man". Defensively, teams killed LSU from the outside as much as they scored inside (maybe more). Now, perhaps you could argue that because of the lack of a rim protector LSU had to sag off of shooters more. However, IMO, the lack of a big man probably just exacerbated a bigger problem moreso than it being THE problem itself. LSU couldn't stop penetration at all. They couldn't do it the year before. They just had more size inside to mitigate the problem. Still, the defensive approach needed a complete top to bottom tear down. Just adding a rim protector would have helped, but not completely fixed the issue.

Luckily that really only showed up 3 times that I can remember. Wiley for Auburn really controlled much of that game in the second half, but LSU let it slip away from the perimeter. MSU dominated LSU inside, but LSU still escaped with a win. Kentucky was really the biggest impact as they negated LSU's inside scoring. Still, what killed LSU in that game was UK shooting 50% from three. Maybe the best, talent wise, front court LSU played last year was USC. They had 2 long 6'10 guys (one will be a lottery pick tonight). LSU outrebounded them and dominated the points in the paint.

O'Neal and Penn-Johnson have the natural size. But I think the inside defensive presence is going to come from Leblanc. Yes, he is "only" 6'7". But he has great length and plays with effort. If you can finish in the top 10 in defensive % and top 4 in block % in the Big East, then that can translate to the SEC.

Penn-Johnson redshirted as a Freshman and got hurt last season.

Yea, he was there for 2 years but lots of big men struggle initially in college because they’ve never had to learn post moves or defend other bigs. He wasn’t playing a ton prior to getting hurt, but I have high hopes for him. Wade has mentioned him several times

He said LeBlanc they are waiting the alleged issues to be resolved pretty much but that he can travel and what not.
