I am agnostic as to exactly how he should be handled, but I see a kid who has ability but is trying way too hard. Make the early, open pass; penetrate and shoot more off passes such that ball movement has created openings and less off the dribble; less "hero ball," and at least for now, NO dribbling through multiple defenders. Whatever coach does, I hope Gray's minutes are high enough that he can play as he learns.

He's a natural shooter. What is his FG & FT%.

Until he starts handling the rock like it's the piece of gold or the sack of diamonds that it is, and it is not to be given away, he can't see the floor. Dude has been a turnover machine as of late. Let's hope the light bulb turns on because we will need him.

He acts like he gives zero fricks about retaining possession. It's mindnumbing to watch.

so will more playing time make him improve?

Is he the Brandon Harris on our team and more playing time will allow him to improve? Maybe that is what Coach JJ sees in him

Q is a better all around player but does not have true PG skills

JP- is good but from time to time plays outside his skill set and seems to not see the floor as well.

Neither are as good a passer as Gray.

We have a controversy but I do think JJ is coaching it right for now

I hate to see a kid try and not succeed , but I am happy to see jones not be like miles and play him even if he is hurting the team , we have other players who can step up and help win and jones will use them. Maybe cm should pay attention to that

I think Gray should continue to start. Jones has proven that he'll pull Gray if he makes mistakes. If Gray plays well, the team benefits from his ability to get in the lane and pass or score from there. The team is also deeper overall featuring him in the rotation early. If you sit him out the gate, his confidence will likely take a hit and his confidence already looks shaky recently. It's nice to see that he have other guards who can step up and play well if Gray can't turn it around, but it's way too early to give up on Gray imo.

I agree totally. Frustrating to watch at times but flashes of brilliance are there. Personally I think coming off the bench and getting into the flow of the game would benefit him tremendously. Has been a turnover machine at times and right now isn't providing the positives to outweigh the negatives.

I'm not opposed to this. But it would mean playing a small lineup, which I think is ok because Martin and Mickey can handle their own. TQ and Hornsby have to start, so we'll be looking at GGGFF
PG Quarterman/Patterson
G Gray/Patterson
G Hornsby
F Mickey
F Martin

Although I would prefer:
PG Quarterman
G Patterson/Gray
G Hornsby/Gray
F Mickey
F Martin

I don't think way too early, but I agree that he needs a few more chances. Look at his Texas Tech numbers, that's the last time he was playing SEC caliber opponents, and his numbers were absolutely dreadful. Not saying he hasn't made strides in JUCO. And I really hope I'm wrong, but maybe he's just not cut out for this level of basketball. I just wouldn't wait too long to cut bait since we're right there on the bubble and all.
