What was it, last May that he said the NCAA would be bringing down penalties against the LSU basketball program "any day now." I don't think he was just misled. I feel strongly this was a subversive effort to undermine the program.

Vitale made sure Culotta had called to apologize to Dale Brown for his unfounded attack on the coach being Vitale's deep throat.

BS he is a windbag all for himself. The mention of Cullotta was nothing but trying to mind fences and inject himself back into the good graces of the fans.
He does whatever he believes will build his image.

pretty shocking that Vitale doesn't follow HIS SPORT of college basketball enough to know who Cam Thomas is without someone dropping it to him. He was only like a top 20 player and the all time leading scorer in the history of Oak Hill Academy. Probably one of the most well known basketball factories in the country.

Dick only keeps up with the recruits of Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas.
He thought/hoped he had scared top recruits away from LSU.
He now realizes he failed in his mission, so now he hopes to get on the Wade train.

Yeah, I'm completely over Dick Vitale and have no interest in him. His hype during broadcasts undoubtedly helped make me into a college basketball fan when I was younger, but his gimmick is old now. He doesn't seem to have adapted to the changing landscape of power in the game and still attaches himself firmly to old blue bloods like Kentucky and Duke and assumes they can do no wrong while wildly accusing other programs of faults. He is past his expiration date as a broadcaster and needs to be phased out, in my opinion.
