Ben Simmons played defense like a guard, I'm not sure he had a block the whole season.

Response:

Go look at it his defensive stats compared to Carmelo Anthony as a freshman at Syracuse. Ben Simmons is held-and-shoulders above Anthony.

Do a little research before you talk out of your arse.

My take:

If you think ben played defense this year, other than he described then you CLEARLY have t actually watched lsu's basketball games this year. Ben couldve took 100 charges or defended the paint simply by steping forward and setting his feet. He literally moves out of the way and swipes at the ball like james harden.

If you watch alot of basketball you would know what he means. But you dont Im sure.

Ben gets steals etc, but he gives up so much.

We are continuosly losing by getting outscored in the paint and outrebounded. But hey lets blame that on JJ and tim quarterman.

Idiots

Ben didn't give half the effort Jordan did on just one of those blocks all season long.

I said before the season that if just Jordan Mickey had come back we would have been a final four contender. He was great at blocking shots and was a good rebounder and adequate scorer. Would have meant much more to this years team than Martin would have. Could have played Victor at the 4 and therefore kept him out of foul trouble. Not to mention Elbert and Malone would never seen the floor and that would have been huge.

Can you imagine the pick and roll/pop game we could run with Simmons to Mickey.

That's gonna be where Simmons completely excels at the NBA level. We don't have 1 other player who can play above the rim on this team.

Looks like he put on some weight. Man they let them bang it at that level. No shite that would have been 2 fouls if not 3 at the college level.

It was really interior defense. LSU had no one to redirect shots. LSU had an absurdly low number of blocked shots and LSU gave up a countless number of dunks and lay ups. I've never seen a team give up more dunks.

True, we didn't have a rim protector on defense, but the on ball defense by the point guard was horrific as well.

He also gave away the NC State game last year.

I agree.
A starting lineup of Simmons at PG, Blakeney and Hornsby at the guard spots, Mickey and Victor down low. That would have been a very difficult team to beat, even with the poor coaching.

I agree, rim protection is a huge part of the game today and LSU didn't have it this year. Our ability to guard the 3 point line would have been so much better. You can be more aggressive and gamble more knowing you have someone like that behind you. It's what they had with Shaq, Stro, Tyrus and Mickey, and one reason those teams had success. I think Mickey would have been more valuable than Martin this year for this team for that reason alone!

It really is a huge difference. It is a much better game in the NBA

Remember the Georgia game this year?

Don't speak in absolutes or act like you know the specifics of someone you interact with online because it makes you look like a self-righteous, uniformed a-hole.
