TEAM.........ATT...CMP...YDS...TD...INT...RUSH...YDS...TD
Alabama......13......10......141.....1......0........7.........27.....0
Ole Miss......17......13......254.....1......1........9.........45.....1
Arkansas.....27......16......184.....0......0.......14.........34.....0
TAMU..........19......10......158.....3......1.......12.........67.....1
Total:
Passing - 49 of 76, (65%), 737 yards, 5 TDs, 2 INT
Rushing - 42 carries, 173 yards, (4.1 YPC), 2 TDs
Prorated over 13 game season:
159 of 247, 2,395 Yards, 16 TDs, 7 INTs,
137 carries, 562 yards, 7 TDs
That comes out to almost 3,000 yards from the QB position. We get that kind of production next year, and I like our chances

I guess he shows up when the spot light is on him.

I'm getting on the Jefferson bandwagon. There is plenty room

I respect your enthusiasm Speedy, but I can just as easily take his first four games and compute them over a 12 or 13 game season, adn the numbers look a whole helluva lot worse.
The bottom line is JJ has shown flashes of good QB play. What he hasn't shown the ability to do is have those performances week in and week out.
If Mett is even with him over the course of the spring and summer practices, then I start Mett, because the upside is infinitessimally greater.
As for JJ's rushing stats, it's not necessary to have an actual running QB. We'll have a stable full of capable backs and a stout O-line to carry the rock and make up for JJ's yards.

You might want to check your stats against time to prepare. He preforms nicely when given more than 1 week to prepare. His problem lies in learning new game plans weekly. Hopefully he has learned the majority of LSU's offense this year and he won't have to learn as much weekly next year. His physical abilities have never been in question.

The bottom line is, our QB situation looks brighter than it has in a while. I think Jefferson may be poised to have a season statistically similar to the OP's prorated numbers--probably not as good as those numbers, but close. That's assuming of course that he's our starting QB in 2011. The other scenario, where Mettenberger takes the #1 job, is also good.
We all know that production at QB is probably the biggest thing that's hindered us over the past two years. We solve that problem, and 2011 will be an awesome year.

He can play like Brees one game and then a peewee league qb the next week. Not enough consistency. He may have had an okay few games in a row, but I don't trust him any further than I can throw La'el Collins. He may start next year, but I will never hop on that bandwagon. He's had more than enough time to be better than he has been. He also really rubs me the wrong way with his lack of leadership and the way he seems to never take responsibility for what he does wrong. It's always "be patient with me" or "I thought I played well" when he clearly didn't.

I don't think that means what you think it means...it is pretty funny how you used it though.
The word you are looking for is infinitely.

I am not on the ban wagon as 2 games does not make a qb. I will wait til next season before I give kudo's for jj.

so what you saying is that JJ should do really well against Oregon cause he will have half a year to perpare.

JJ's 2011 stats
21-40 277 yds 1td 3 ints as a backup.
The chosen one has arrived.

I saw that too...I was about to comment and scrolled down.
If Mett is infinitesimally better than JJ, I don't see what all the hype is about.
