Henderson shoots 38% from the field and 89% from the foul line. Hickey shoots 38.7% and 44.4%. Hickey really needs to improve his free throws and his overall shooting if he wants to be an all star. He took the most three point shots for us by far and yet every other guard on the team had a higher percentage. He is a good player and an exciting one but he needs to refine his game to be really great.
Henderson is a SG, Hickey is a PG. You expect your PG to not be a very good shooter, you dont expect your SG to throw up 15-16 shots a game like Henderson if he is a poor shooter. Hickey definitely took more shots than he should, but he also scored some clutch points for us this year. The main thing Hickey needs to improve on is definitely FT shooting and then getting to the FT line more. It's a little strange how much he does drive and somehow doesn't get to the FT line now (which is good, because he isn't a good FT shooter). But if he gets MUCH better on FTs this off season, it will help him tremendously, because drawing more contact shouldn't be tough for him to do with the way he plays. Becoming a better FT shooter is much easier for a guy like him than becoming a suddenly great 3pt shooter.

People who bash Henderson's shooting % don't look at the breakdown. The reason he is shooting at such a poor % is because he shoots 3's 75% of the time, making his % actually pretty good. He's shooting 36% from three point range. That is very good. He may shoot 38% but for the most part he gets 3 points for each make.
Still don't think he deserved 1st team and I am happy he is on 2nd team.

I look at the breakdown, he does take a majority of 3 point shots and shoots OKAY from there, 36% I would not classify as good, just average/mediocre (for a 2-guard). 40%+ is good. I certainly wouldn't want a 36% 3 point shooter taking 11-12 threes a game on my team.
He's only shooting 44% from 2 which, for a taller guard, is not very good.
Henderson is merely a volume shooter who doesn't shoot very well. Carmouche could have averaged 20 points a game if he took 15-16 shots a game.

Fair statement. But when was the last time the SEC's scoring leader was left off the first team? (Seriously, I don't know?) Make no mistake, his obnoxious behavior (which far outweighs his talent and production) kept him off the 1st team this year. Especially with the coaches voting.

1st all SEC player from LSU since 2009 and this thread is reduced to a debate on an Ole Miss player

I think we are all very proud of JOB. I dont think there is any debate there. There is however a debate on whether the SEC's leading scorer deserved 1st team. I also think there was mantion on Carmouche and Hickey's absences from 2nd team.
While I completely understand I where you are coming from, I think the conversation is going fine in here.

Ole Miss should probably be worried about making the NCAA tournament, not Tweeting...
