I don't think TQ is gonna transfer, but he didn't get mentioned today in Jones Press Conference.

The other thing was the only player who didn't attend was Shane Hammink. Still not going to look too deep into that, but it is what it is.

Coach said he is expecting some attrition.

anyway, next year should suit hickey better from an on court standpoint in terms of getting out on the run and pushing the tempo.

He needs to get back into his old routine of haunting the dreams of Mississippi State.

Well yeah, we've known there would be attrition from the time we signed our incoming class.

The Jones/Hickey relationship has been mystifying to me. A coach can't force a guy to be a "leader". It's something that is part of the makeup of the individual player. Hickey seems to have a relatively quiet on-court persona. That's not going to change just because JJ wants it to, and if he's holding that against Hickey then that's his fault for trying to force a square peg in a round hole.

In JJ's two years, Hickey has been a completely different player. I see JJ criminally underutilizing Hickey's abilities by basically relagating him to being just a distributor who has no large role in the offense from possession to possession. If you watched LSU for the last few years, all Hickey does is bring the ball up and get it to a wing or dump it into JOB to start the offense. He then is just out of the way until someone gets in trouble with the ball, or the shot clock is running down. Rarely is he asked to be any sort of playmaker.

For those who continue to say that his height is the biggest problem that keeps him from being a playmaker, go back and watch is Freshman year. Hickey was the most dynamic playmaker on the team. He didn't just sit around and jack up 3's. He constantly attacked the basket, hit floaters in the lane, and created opportunities for his teammates. It started in the GA Tech game and continued all the way to the UK in the SEC tournament. That guy could really make this offense hum. Sadly, JJ is content to have an offense that tries to force guys to either make tough one-on-one plays in the post, or hoist 25 low % three point shots a game (last season and this season are #1 and #2 in most 3pt attempts in school history!)

This is totally incoherently wrong. Who has the ball at the end of every single half? Who does Jones allow to take final shots?

Just because Hickey doesn't feel comfortable driving to the rim doesn't mean its Jones' fault...

That was really just this year, to be quite honest. Hickey was the closest thing we had to a facilitator this year in the absence of Carmouche or any other decent facilitators.

This year, with the addition of Mickey and Martin up front and the loss of Carmouche, whether you agree with the move or not, we were looking to be more halfcourt, post-oriented (perhaps leaned too heavily on it at times) and less run-and-gun than last year. This would logically lead to Hickey taking less shots or trying to create his own shot less.

This is probably a somewhat simplistic way of looking at it, but there it is.

It's harsh, and I wish Jones would learn to be more media savvy, but he's just being honest.

Realistically, it isn't a bad thing for a coach to do, but when you're a coach that hasn't proved squat or won anything of meaning, it's not like the player will look at you and be like "He's a great coach, see his track record! I should listen to him calling me out in public"

That said, it's not shocking to see Jones call him out when asked (not unprevoked), because he likely is trying to shoulder a lot of the blame onto players he inherited rather than the ones he recruited.
