Can you imagine the recruiting lock we would have with the rich Louisiana talent pool? The talent we' d bring in alone would win 20 games a year.

Jones is definitely not my first choice, but I don't think it would be a terrible hire. The duo of he and Livingston could tear some shite up recruiting. Also, like some have pointed out he does coach an uptempo exciting brand of basketball, which even in lean years is entertaining to watch at the very least. I think that was a big problem for Johnson, no one wants to watch a team that sucks and bores them to tears.

I think alot of folks are missing the boat here. It's not Dale that the administration is listening to, it's Shaq. I could be wrong, but I believe he is one of the biggest single donors that the athletic dept has. They don't have to take his suggestion, but if he is pusing it than they have to at least appease him by giving Johnny a courtesy look (like they did 4 years ago).

Winthrop played 20 years of basketball without playing an NCAA tournament games. Gregg Marshall brought them to that 1st tourney in his 1st season. Then he brought them to the tourney 6 more times in 8 years. He's doing similar at Wichita St.

Mark Turgeon turned around the wichita st program. you're exagerating a little bit on what marshall has done at wichita st.

He's got a "meh" overall record, but in 11 years he has won his conference only once. Other than being a former LSU player and a disciple of Dale Brown, this guy has done nothing to deserve this opportunity.

...Yes. There's our answer.

A 500 Sunbelt Coach that no one else has hired away from North Texas in the last decade.

"We have met the enemy and it is us".

Do we wonder why we now a horrible basketball program? It's because we are actually having this conversation as to whether Jones should be our coach.

If Johnny Jones had no LSU ties, we wouldn't even know who he was. You can check out half the Sun Belt and they have similar records. I just check one random one, Scott Cross of UT-Arlington and he looks as good, or better. Why not him?
