This had nothing to do with the LSU football program. Yahoo is making it look like it is because, for some reason, they just can't stand LSU. Funes was paying people he knew and they were funneling some of the money back to him. The fact Funes is a LSU booster is why all these media are going to make it look like LSU was paying players. And that is not what was going on. Funes was a damn thief. He was stealing the money for himself.

It's not clear, but it seems to be a series of payments. That would seem to rule out a large payment which, in my mind, be a recruiting inducement. In that case, would he need to pay to KEEP Vadal Alexander at LSU?
Otherwise, why exactly would Funes be paying Vadal's father unless it was to get some of it back (basically laundering the embezzled money).

The timing of this "new" information is interesting. O is working on a top 5 recruiting class for 2020. How long before these commits start reopening their recruiting.

If Tua accepts the money, Alabama gets nailed. All college athletes are well informed about NCAA rules related to accepting gifts from boosters, fans, etc. All college athletes are instructed to NOT accept gifts AND report the offer to compliance.

This guy was using LSU in every way possible. He used LSU and his job at LSU to make contacts with people he could use to launder money with. He would send them money under the guise of helping them and was getting 2/3 of the money kicked back to himself.
Funes is a criminal and will go to Prison.
