I was never much of a fan of him as a head coach at LSU, but listening to him on the radio now, and he comes off as a surprisingly likable guy. He gives good insight on the basketball team, too. Here's to you, John Brady.

After being fired, everyone said he was an a-hole.

the color job has been tremendous from a PR standpoint for him, he's also great at it

I gotta tell ya...I never thought three coaches later John fricking Brady would still be brought up here on a near daily basis.

He was an a-hole, but he’s mellowed out A LOT

Never had a problem with Brady. Always played tough defense, great fundamentals..excluding Heart Attack Minor....when we had ballers..we balled....Also, coming in on heavy NCAA sanctions cleaning up Dale's mess...won/shared a conference title in year 3.
Fired 20 months after a Final Four..? Wtf
As we've found out for the past 12 fricking years...
An NCAA tournament team every 2-3 years...deep run every 5 or so is about as good as anyone can do at LSU

The problem is he would run off ballers on a yearly basis. I loved Brady but he couldn't keep the talent in Baton Rouge after it had already arrived. Jaime Lloreda packed his shite mid-season and said to hell with Brady and went back to Panama.

I agree, he did piss the players off
At least most of them stayed for Butch Pierre.
Before Google'ing..anybody know where Butch is these days after Okie St?

He hinted at that, and he also mentioned how today's players are into cell phones, social media, etc. I don't think he could handle that.

I’ve always liked him as a guy. Even when he was coach I thought he was cool. He’d pick up the tab for everyone when the coach’s show was at Superior from time to time

True, but Dale was a special coach, fit at LSU...generational coach, not sure there will be another like Dale in this day and age

I had a friend that was a manager and he said that Butch was the only reason Brady could field a team. Brady would dog cuss the players until they would quit mid-practice and then Butch would convince them not to quit.
He has quite the story of Brady calling Big Baby a pussy one day on the practice floor and Big Baby trying to get through five people to fight Brady. Meanwhile Brady still just calling Big Baby a pussy the whole time.

I don’t think he’s coaching anywhere right now. Not on the college level anyway

Closest one I can think of is Bruce Pearl and he is definitely one of a kind.

The last 12 years have been extremely frustrating. It just sucks. Selection Sunday is my favorite sports day of the year
