Joe, Burrow and Company would have lost four games in the regular season with this defense

Based on what exactly? Alabama scored 41 points in 2019. They scored 42 last night. LSU scored 46 in 2019 and 28 this year.

Florida state scored 45 this year. Texas scored 38 in 2019. Lsu scored 45 in 2019 and 24 this year.

Auburn scored 18 points this year and 20 in 2019. So not sure why that would’ve been a different outcome.

Florida who knows but based on Texas and Bama decent chance the 2019 team gets it done.

The 2023 offense is incredible but it’s being given a huge pass by a lot on this board for its performance in big moments in the three losses. We scored 7 points in the second half of both Florida state and bama when the games were tied midway through the third, and had a back breaking interception in both. Ole Miss we had three plays (if coaches had gone for it like they should have) to get five yards and salt the game away. Didn’t get it done.

Based on never being able to stop the other team, when it really matters exactly

Great point. This offense has been much more rhythm based than 2019. 23 is in a rhythm it’s as good as any, but when it’s not, it really comes down to earth. The mean of 2019 was head and shoulders ahead of the 2023 mean.

Again in 2019 bama and Texas scored virtually every second half possession. To be specific in 10 total possessions in the second half of those games bama and Texas scored 8 touchdowns, 1 field goal, and one punt. No turnovers.

2019 offense did enough to win both games.

So while it’s impossible to know a hypothetical like this for sure, the 2019 team won the two games where the opposing team scored every possession down the stretch of a close game which cuts pretty hard against the point you’re trying to make. Which I guess is that it was impossible for the offense to do enough to win these games, which just isn’t true.

Aranda’s defense did enough to win every game which cuts against your point.

another dumb comparison thread.

Hears another one.

Joe Burrow 3 and 17, touchdown against the Horns.

Last night 3 and 17, check-down to TE at critical juncture.

Wow I guess that proves that Aranda was as bad as House.
Idiot.

People conveniently forget how bad the 2019 defense was in games that mattered the first two-thirds of the season. I know that runs counter to what the "Aranda split the atom" crowd wants to believe, but it's the truth.

All the people that want Arnada back conveniently forget how much John Rhys Plumlee tore up LSU with quarterback runs in 2019.

The defense got better as the season went on, this year it is the same garbage every week except for Army.

The fact that this defense is much worse than that defense?

Alabama scored 41 points in 2019. They scored 42 last night.

Alabama’s offense was so much better in 2019. That offense would put up 50+ on this years defense.

Auburn scored 18 points this year and 20 in 2019. So not sure why that would’ve been a different outcome.

Again Auburn’s offense was better in 2019 than it is this year. It would’ve been a different outcome because they would’ve scored more than 20 points.

His point is that all of those offenses would have scored more points against us than they did. I’m not sure how you don’t understand that.
