The field shrinks when Finley is in the game both vertically and horizontally. He’s easy to defend because he only throws a couple routes. Max Jets may not have the arm but he has great anticipation, the comeback route in the 4th was incredible, and he can identify openings in coverage. The deep throw he made down the left side late was also an example of what he can do that Finley can’t. He deked the blitzer and froze him just long enough to hit that pass. There are a lot of subtle things that lead to good QB play and are much more important than arm strength.

I think he has the arm. I haven't seen anything that makes me think there are a lot of throws he can't make.

He has trouble on the short zip passes outside the numbers.

Damn, its refreshing to see someone on here make legitimate points about Ensminger and the offense's weaknesses without making blanket statements about the dude being a horrible coach that is mentally deficient due to age.

We probably disagree on whether or not he should be or can be an effective OC moving forward, but the fact is, no one here truly knows how similar/different these offenses are.

Hell, even if you did have all 22 film access, how could you judge the effectiveness of an offense run by a 22 yr old polished QB vs one run by a combination of two 18 yr old true freshman with entirely different skill sets in a year with literally no practice reps with the players currently on the field?

I'm not calling for anyone's job.... I'm just saying I have zero confidence in Ensminger fixing the offense next year. We have never seen a good offense under Ensminger.

I truly hope Ensminger gets it figured out. He is a tiger through and through.

Kinda lazy retort. That running game was a battering ram in several of those games and the defense was salty as hell. He was the definition of a game manager.

He’s been given impossible task after impossible task by O. First year he has to run Cams offense then when he’s promoted 2 years ago he had to invent a new offense from scratch in about 8 months and now he’s being made to run Brady’s offense. He’s bearing the brunt of Orgerons decisions which is why Orgeron wanted him there in the first place. But you’re right he’s a true blue Tiger who’s going to do whatever he’s asked to help the program.

Well if you just leave out last year sure. If you go watch any of the documentaries on LSU last year. It's very clear that E is calling the plays.

We know the process was Brady giving him 3 plays to chose from and the checks if needed. Ensminger wasn’t running that offense cmon now.

There's no way you actually believe this.

Just FYI, the Carolina panthers have now lost 7 of their last 8 games with Brady as OC. Also, Bridgewater has not progressed under him. Makes me wonder who really was the passing game coordinator.

He doesn't have Joe Burrow.

Ed orgeron outright say Brady is calling the plays then a week later walks that back

Only 1 of 2 things happened....
1. O doesn't know what's going on with his own offense
2. Someone told o to change this narrative.

There is no way anyone can make me believe Ensminger was architect of that offense.

Which one has the play sheet and which one is talking to the QB? Same guy, the guy running the offense.

This past weekend looked far more like last year than we have seen. The playbook is more open for Max than TJ. Miles was averaging almost 400 YPG and over 3 TD's per game.

We did, I don’t think Finley is a bad player he’s just young. Johnson is young too but right now he can operate more of the offense than T.J. and we saw that Saturday. Finley looks to the hitch almost always unless it’s a called shot play and he looks right exclusively. Max made good decisions all night. He found Boutte on the short wheel early, a play Finley always throws the slant on. He made an incredible anticipation throw in the fog on a deep comeback where he let it go well before the WR made his break. He deked that blitzer to buy a split second on the long pass up the left side in the 4th. He never put the ball in jeopardy and he kept his eyes up while he navigated the pocket. We also had a bunch of drops so he’s probly around 300 if we just catch easy balls. As far as Ensminger, I’m sure he’s picked up as much of the offense as possible, the difference I see is on 3rd and 5 range playcalling he doesn’t have the familiarity that Brady had to call those easy conversion routes that were always open with a variety of pass catchers last season. But I don’t want to knock Ensminger, I think he’s doing what he can.

Same here. No matter how you judge him, he was a part of the greatest offense in college football. It is a fact that doesn't happen without Brady. I also think its safe to assume that doesn't happen without Ensminger.

He may not be the right fit as a play calling OC, but I believe he should be on this staff moving forward. He had some sort of role in developing Burrow and was here for the entirety of the development of Brennan, Finley, and Johnson.
