That's probably really realistic numbers for Burrow this season, if this offense is what we hope it will be. That will be great, but it also doesn't mean Burrow = Brees.

And no one is saying Burrow now has skills close to Brees (the NFL HOF QB). But senior year to senior year? We'll see.

I’m sure you know this, but the Big 10 West wasn’t a thing in 2000. Let’s keep it real.

This isn't totally fair to point at Purdue's record and Brees' numbers at Purdue. Purdue is not LSU. Purdue doesn't have the expectations that LSU has.
It was a different era too. Brees had 3,600 passing yards and 500 rushing yards as a senior and was a heisman finalist. Those were kind of eye-popping numbers for that time.

Burrow is a Top-5 college QB, and many major sports media sources now have him rated there or very close.
Link? Which media sources have ranked him top 5?

Interesting
Did not know this
Brees was selected by the San Diego Chargers with the first pick of the second round of the 2001 NFL draft. He became the team's starting quarterback in his second season, but he failed to quickly turn around the then-woeful Chargers and in his third year lost playing time to 41-year-old Doug Flutie.

Don’t egg him on. Or do. It’s pretty entertaining

I think what he meant was that he will be in the top 5 range of draftable QBs. That list excludes Lawrence, and all other highly touted FR/SO QBs.

Right, but he's not intelligent enough to know the difference.

quote:Thank god. For a second I thought he was actually trying to compare Burrow's QB ability to Drew Brees.
In New Orleans, every single game you watch Drew Brees walk into the huddle before the game and everybody in that stadium and in that huddle believes that we have a chance to win because of Drew Brees.
I think we have that here at LSU with Joe Burrow. He's exactly what you're looking for in a quarterback. He has that moxy and has that makeup. As a coach, you're fired up knowing Joe is your quarterback
Burrow has the right attitude, no doubt!

Neither Joe Brady nor the OP limits Borrow's strengths to "leadership". Why would YOU assert that limitation?
Only you could shite up a thread designed to compliment your player.
You already shite on the other LSU players to try to prop up Burrow, but now you are shitting on posters that are complimentary of the player that is the only player on the team you care about.

Bill Connelly has Burrow as the 2nd most important college player in the 2019 playoff race:

2. QB Joe Burrow, LSU
The ability to stretch the field vertically is one of just a few factors that separates a talented, high-ceiling team from a team that actually gets close to its ceiling and contends. Last year, Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma and Ohio State -- teams that went 50-2 in the regular season and won four of the five power conference titles -- each produced a QBR of 98.8 or higher on balls thrown at least 20 yards downfield. They completed 51% of these passes at 20.1 yards per attempt, with a nearly 5-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio.
Joe Burrow didn't hit that mark. Over his first nine games as LSU's starter, he went just 14-for-38 on these passes (37%) at 12.6 yards per attempt. But late in the season, the big plays began to flow. Over his last four games, he completed nine of 17 deep attempts (53%) for 303 yards (17.8 per pass), with six scores and no picks. Against UCF in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, he was 4-for-5 for 129 and three scores.

So a team, which has been plagued by QB issues, and has been incredibly talented everywhere else, will have a returning senior QB be a critical piece to the teams success?
Got it. Who would argue otherwise?
