He got screwed out of his position? typical...never his fault, always someone else's fault when things go wrong.
I'm waiting for someone to find a way to blame all this on Crowton, Miles, or a sore thumb (foot).....Oh wait, that has already been done.

He can probably get a series or two v. Florida after he's had a little more practice time.
That you Les? Thanks for the info.

I'm no lawyer or law student so idk how it exactly works, but I know that if you kick or stomp on a guy while he's on the ground and he gets the amount of injuries that this particular guy got, it's way more than simple battery. JJ's lawyer himself said this normal "charge" is a ticket by police. The trial won't be for a year but jj will probably pay a 200 dollar fine and be done with it. I'm just saying, he should be cheered. Not standing O, but it's been a terrible situation and the fanbase is divided on this matter and it would be great if everyone got behind him and as a whole the team. Just my opinion

You mean like they have booed JL a few years ago....

Started to make a thread identical to this yesterday, but couldn't word it right. I'm not a fan of JJ and I don't want him to touch the field, but when he does I will be cheering for him

He made a mistake, deserves a second chance but no heroes welcome
This.
Why should he get a "heroes welcome?"
What has he done that is heroic? Keep his head down and mouth shut while being investigated for a crime? Following the judicial process?
He definitely deserves to be reinstated, as being charged with a first-offense misdemeanor should not be damning.
Should he get a "welcome?" Sure.
A "heroes welcome?" Hell no.

JJ screwed himself by jeopardizing a National Championship run. It amazes the hoodoo out of me how you guys can make a hero out of a mediocre QB that nearly wasted our season. I won't boo any LSU player but an ovation? Good grief.
Crazy thing is, he probably helped us to 4-0 and No.1 in the nation BY SCREWING UP!!

I agree that he should, but I don't think that he will. Once upon a time, that fans at LSU were classy. Now....

He won't play against Kentucky. He hasnt practiced in over a month. Later, who knows?
Posted on 9/30/11 at 7:37 am to JJ27
There were 40-50 players there that night, many of which were in the fight as well. It's not like it was just him. Also, I say "screwed", because he went through all of this for simple battery? That's usually given out the night of the incident and can be solved in a weeks time but this has taken 5-6 weeks.

I agree that booing our own player would be trashy, but in no way does he deserve an ovation! How does not giving him an ovation make an lsu fan classless?

this ... He should get a warm, "welcome back" type of response, but it's more about perceived football. If JJ had been the QB of a prolific offense, fans would have been raising holy hell about this case and lauding his return. As a borderline successful QB (with his backup now performing admirably), he is very hesitantly welcomed back by the fans. Does a bar fight with no previous record of problems over his 3+ years at LSU qualify him for the level of negativity he's receiving? No. Does being the leader of a below average offense for 2 years warrant it? Maybe so, but the kid has earned his spot as a Tiger. Welcome back, JJ!

Lee should get a big ovation when they announce him as the starter in the starting lineups before kickoff. The guy has been through a lot. Most would agree that he is a good guy. He is LSU through and through and deserves a big cheer.
The dumbest and most disheartening thing about all of this mess, is people turning it into matter of choosing either Lee or Jefferson. Both kids have been through a lot.

I don't think a standing O is warranted, but a nice "hey welcome back" is. I'm sure jj realizes being at that bar was the biggest mistake of his life. Let's not compound the situation into making Lee a godsend and saying jj is garbage. 3 straight years jj has beat him out in competition. I still think lsu is 4-0 with him as well
Posted on 9/30/11 at 7:44 am to jeffsdad
I agree that he should be recognized upon his return. That being said it should not be a hero's welcome because he hasn't done anything heroic. He made a stupid mistake and by the skin of his teeth he is coming back to the team. That being said, the guy made a mistake and the judicial system has ran its course and this needs to be put behind everyone. I wish him and LSU the very best.

only due to coaches loyalty probably. I think its plainly obvious Lee is the more talented of the two. I've seen some pretty shitty QBs at LSU but Jefferson made Randall and Booty look impressive.

huh....he brought all of this on himself....so since he is only charged with a lesser crime than originally thought, he is now a hero. It's like these people lose site of what is actually going on. He screwed up, and has been punished for it....but a standing ovation for committing a lesser crime??? please.....he is lucky to be back on the team. It amazes me how you people try to spin and make a hero out of some people. JL is the one who deserves the ovation everytime he comes on the field. He is the one who stayed through all the turmoil over the years....suffered through it, remained loyal...and he was there when we needed him....and has led us to the #1 ranking in the nation.....he deserves the credit.....and I guess so does jj for screwing up...we would not be the team we were had this never have gone down....
