This is deja-vu all over again, from last year. JJ looked great at the Manning QB camps then also, or whatever camp he attended, then like other posters have already mentioned, once he was in an actual game situation facing college DB's, it was a much different story.

I don't remember all this initial praise either, especially from people outside of LSU. But I'll take it.

Hey you know LSU had to get some type of return on investment after spending all that money on the JJ pr campaign. It is the same talk as last couple of years just amped up because of the campaign. Heck if JJ didnt have to step on the field he may actually have a shot at winning the Heisman this year.

I don't remember jj getting camp praise at all. I do remember negative talk about his mechanics and accuracy. This kind of objective observor praise about his game in shorts is new.

We can only hope that 2+ years of starts (27 I believe) will pay off.

except that Miles chastised his QB last year, and ESPN and all their big wigs were down on LSU because of JJ. No, it's much different this year. Not saying I am buying though...at least not yet.

There were some good things said about JJ last year out of this camp, but nothing on the level we are hearing this year. And you are correct about the negative statements on his mechanics last year, but:

quote:

McElroy said. "Big, strong arm with a surprisingly good technique from center.

"Surprisingly good technique"? Krags work maybe?

Believe it when I see it. If ESPN is just trying to hype JJ up for LSU's projected NC run, then I feel sorry for him the minute he messes up.
