Kickass post!

I have no delusions of JJ being an exceptional QB. That said, I expect he will be servicable, and have his best season next year. And that should be plenty enough for LSU to thrive.
Team dynamics- there should be no confusion about who to go to at WR. Randle is the man. Last year (and I have no inside info), it seemed at times that TT WANTED to be the man, and if he didn't get the ball enough, he went into a shell and made poor plays (drops, etc); basically sulked. I may be wrong, but it seemed that way.
JJ seems to be a bit timid about things at times, and maybe he had a hard time controlling the WRs in the huddle. If he was worried about keeping TT happy, in addition to figuring out the call (and still get the ball to RR and RS), that might explain the "statue moments".
This year, JJ is a senior, and RR is the guy. RS seems to not have any ego or pouting in his play (or else he's hidden it well these past couple years). That alone will make the progression reads easier. Coupled with Kragthorpe paring the offense down to a workable script, and JJ should be more decisive.
That's what I hope, and it won't shock me to see it play out that way.

All he has to do is put the ball in the hands of extremely talented players.

Sticking with RP was a disaster
So, LSU shouldn't have recruited RP or should have kicked him off the team during the 07 season and should have pulled JL's RS and let him try to do in the 07 SECCG what RP did do?
A HC is always responsible, but I'm thinking you have taken 2nd guessing/playing the blame game to a whole new level.

I hope you are right but the light needs to come on. I don't have much confidence and hope he proves me wrong.

Uhh last year Lee threw 1 pic in 89 attempts and JJ threw 10 in a little over 210 which breaks down to 1 out of 89 for Lee and 1 out of 21 with JJ which one would you prefer!
Screw last year. Metts here. Put him in.

I agree I was just pointing out Lee has reduced greatly his turnover ratio and JJ has increased his.

quote:I'll throw up a fact. JJ completed more 25+ yd passes in '09 than any other since '06. Yes more than Flynn or JL. It's on CFB Stats and I think it was 25.
I think a qb who was a threat to throw the ball downfield and complete it on a consistent basis would be more of a threat to the defense.

Hey Rudy 40, do you think Mett managed to pass Lee
& is #2 going into fall practices next month? I think he should have, but several posters thought Lee was still #2. It seems inevitable that he will pass Lee even if he hasn't yet. My hope is that Miles will make everyone, even returning starters, earn their positions in the fall. I would not be at all surprised if Mett emerges as the starter by mid-season, maybe sooner.
